Raya starts which is obvious. Ben White starts as RB, Mosquera and Gabriel as the CBs, and Calafiori on the left. MLS gets another start in the midfield, alongside Declan Rice and Odegaard. Havertz led the line with Saka and Tzolis on either side of the pitch to assist him.
It was expected that Konsa would start against his former side, but it looks like Mikel wants to stick to what worked earlier. Havertz over Gyokeres – we can’t even call it a mystery because we all know why it is so.
I am turning 35 in a few minutes, India time so I don’t have much to say, except that not seeing Martinelli is a heart break for me while not seeing Jesus gives a relief. Only a day and some hours left before the transfer window shuts, and we have only Tzolis left as the left winger.

we just barely beat a side who didn’t get a shot on target, and not because we locked them down, and who played their C-side for the better part of 70+ minutes…if this painting drying exercise is what we’re in store for this season, it’s going to be a long one…if other sides had half a brain they would simply emulate Unai’s backline rotational system and force us to make cross field passes, which we can’t seem to do without putting way too much air under them…the clock is ticking on this window so we had better wake the fuck up!!

Havertz was mr floppy tonight , Tzolis struggled , a good decision to bring Eze on for Tzolis especially as he was on a yellow card.
Villa’s home form against the big clubs is 2nd to none, Emery is a top manager who set the team up to play on the transition but Arsenal coped with that well with Villa having zero shots on target.
As I have said previously, having our attacking full backs fit will give the opposition problems and ultimately that was the case tonight with another excellent assist from calafiori.
