We could have done the double last year had we not lost to Man City in the finals. The loss to Man City was a disappointing one for us. Nico O’Reilly scored twice and ruined some of the fun that was about to come later. We also lost to PSG in the Champions League finals, and missed the treble. The getaway was that you shouldn’t lose finals but to learn from those losses, we must reach there again.
And the journey begins today. We are visiting Ipswich Town today in the third round of Carabao Cup / EFL cup. There are some good teams competing this time – Chelsea, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Palace, Newcastle have already made it to the next round. The fate of Arsenal, Man Utd, City, Liverpool and Spurs will be decided today.
We are unbeaten so far this season. 4 Premier League wins and a CL win so far, and we can add another one today. And it’s the second last game before we go into the international break, so the manager is under no duress to rest players. Though, I would like to see the likes of Max Dowman getting some game time today, Mikel likely prefers to go with the best fit XI.
Wenger used these cups to develop academy players and he would find some gems often. He invested his time and also cost the club a few points in doing so. But we are way past the development phase and we can spend 60m on players that would be second fiddle to Saliba and Rice, so don’t expect anything interesting. The best we can do is, WIN, and move on to the next round.
Every trophy matters. We have the best squad in the Premier League and we have already won the Premier League. The next target is to win more, and not just settle with the title this season.
In the team news, we would probably see Kepa back in the goals. There’s so much to do for Raya, so he will get some rest. We can also see a midfield of MLS and Guimaraes, with Merino in the Odegaard role. Madueke is a candidate to get a start and we might see Eze over Tzolis. Gyokeres could also get his start. I don’t care frankly who starts and if he is fatigued, we have got at least 2 players for each position and that removes the injury anxiety for me.

As for the officials having a home bias , I don’t think there should be an argument on that as it is so obvious unless of course it’s Manchester City who have already received a helping hand at least twice this season , one home against Sunderland and one away against United which gave city an extra 4 points , whereas Arsenal have been on the end of 2 poor decisions away to Villa and Sunderland which didn’t cost us points thankfully.
Something tells me that today City won’t be so lucky today with decisions at Anfield, the tide has to turn against them sometime decision wise and today may be the day.

The result is we haven’t scored from one this season.
I can’t see either teams manager lasting long term looking at the season so far.
City will play the us against the world for a while then once the punishment is announced (and assuming its the level it needs to be – I can’t see the big PL clubs allowing anything else) they’ll begin to look at where they’re going to be playing next season.
Liverpool just look ponderous and unexciting. Liverpool fans are still looking for the 2nd coming of Klopp.

So Liverpool have spent absolute fortunes in the last year or so and they have a squad that is so lacking in depth that they may find themselves in mid table at best if they are not careful, and the numpties on here criticise our transfer policy.
In fairness City scored a couple of well worked goals but up until the red card they were struggling to beat a weak Liverpool side who had a number of players out injured, Barcola will be an expensive flop along way th wirtz , that’s 250 mil down the drain.
There is no comparison between Barcola and Doku , the city winger has added end product to his game and is looking close to world class, there is no doubt that at present city offensively look a level above Arsenal, it’s a pity that the city owners are trying to destroy the strongest league in the word as it looks like it would have been a city/Arsenal title race again, Chelsea may put a run together and Brighton are maybe a dark horse but the likes of United, Liverpool, Villa I doubt will put any sort of run together to challenge for the title.

Watching City yesterday in my opinion confirmed their label of the club being a sham , their manager held a pre match press conference with a fake smile on his face , their fans tried to give a pretence that they don’t give a shit about the guilty ruling and the players showed no shame in their hounding of the ref to give the Liverpool player a red card, one would have thought they may have been less inclined to show the cheating and manipulating side of their game but I suppose it’s difficult for a leopard to change its spots.
So for me the whole city pretence yesterday was a sham from start to finish, when the appeal fails and they receive their punishment,that will be the time when this delusional arrogant pretence of being happy with what is happening should finally sink in as the realisation that this season at the very least will be meaningless.
Unfortunately city are too arrogant to admit they are guilty of any wrongdoing so this will drag on, they would have at least retained a modicum of respect if they had held their hands up and admitted their guilt, instead they are going to go down as the most hated club in history and the fans will probably nick millwall’s favourite song of “no one likes us but we don’t care “ which will just be a continuation of the sham as of course they will care , especially if they lose their owners and players when they are relegated.
Watching city play Millwall next season while singing “no one likes us” in unison will be a joy to behold, the difference being that Millwall actually mean it as it will be impossible for city fans to continue with their facade…..sham
