Mid week football is back and we are playing Napoli today in the Champions League. De Bruyne starts in the midfield for them, Hojlund upfront and that’s all I know of them. Allegri, was appointed only in July and prefers a 4-3-3 defensive style of play. They have very poor ball possession stats this season so far, and I don’t think they will try to improve it in this game.
Gyokeres is getting the Martinelli treatment, preferred in Champions League against lesser opponents and only getting few minutes of Premier League football as a substitute. I don’t care as long as we keep winning.
We have some tough opponents later on to play against – Bayern, Dortmund, Mourinho’s Madrid and we can’t afford to drop points. I am also curious to see Eze on the left wing, he has mostly played in the midfield for us and we are in a serious need of someone finding themselves to be a winger suddenly. Eze could be the one.

To put context into part of the reason why we found it difficult to play our normal game in the champions league final you don’t have to look much further than the amount of of games and minutes we played compared to PSG who were conveniently allowed to postpone games at the weekend before important champions league ties , in comparison Arsenal had no such luxury as we fought for the title right up to the penultimate game..
Of course PSG also do have a fantastic manager and players and although the match was decided by the 2 penalty decisions that both went the way of PSG it is fair to say that they were the better team on the day which in part was due to having a fully rested starting 11.
Hopefully this season we will not be on our last legs if we reach the final, although it is worrying that Arteta doesn’t appear to learn his lesson and continues to play the likes of Rice and Saka until they drop or get injured, there should be no excuses of tiredness if Arteta with an almost fully fit squad doesn’t take the chance to rest important players as he should have done v weak Napoli side, Rice looked shattered from 60 minutes onwards..
