Champions of England,
We know what we are,
Champions of England,
We know what we are!
The journey, here, started on March 04, 2021 out of frustration of whatever was going around the club at that time with She wore, she wore. I have been critical of the manager, players, strategy, football and probably everything and everyone but today’s not the day. WE ARE CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND. The season is over, we finished with 85 points on the board; City finished 2nd with 78 points and they did give us some nervy weeks towards the end but the boys believed in themselves and one-nil-to-the-Arsenal every week made sure we don’t make it 4 seasons in a row without a trophy.
It’s BIG. The last time we won the league, Patrick Vieira was still the captain, Henry was scoring goals for fun and we were crowned the Invincibles. It’s been 22 years man, and the later part of those years have been very painful. Credit where it’s due, the players and the manager did what we couldn’t for last 22 years. I don’t care about the football, I don’t care if we have spent a billion dollars today, and I don’t care if Declan Rice played some games at the right back. Ask any of those 19 other teams, and they would happily switch places. Ask any of those 19 team’s fans, and they will die to be in our place.
And, it was lovely to see Declan, Saka, Eze and Timber celebrate the win outside Emirates, 5 in the morning with the fans. Rice was snapping selfies for the fan, after letting them know who they have just seen. I didn’t witness London in person, but I am pretty sure it was the reddest (if that’s a word) in a while. Wrighty did the same, celebrated like a fan with other fans.
We were destined to win this. And we won. Everything else can wait but not the celebrations. I hope you guys are still not in your senses. There’s still a job to be done, and Champions Of England can be replaced with Champions Of Europe but we will see. It’s for the next week to worry, I am still in the winning mood.
Right, that’s me done for today. I started following football since college, about 16 years now and haven’t seen us lift a trophy till this week. My little one is 6 months old and is already singing –
Champions of England,
We know what we are,
Champions of England,
We know what we are!
Cheers.

Ambarish—so happy for those of you who have not witnessed us sitting in the catbird seat…enjoy it as you see fit…I’m fucking elated for most of the players, especially those who’ve wore the crest with honour it once required…over the line, finally!!
nothing says more about the manager than the supposed impromptu signing of autographs for some kids when heading onto the field…holy fucking shit he’s a fraud
with “the” honour”
Now seems an appropriate moment to thank you warmly Ambarish for all that you do to keep this site afloat. The ‘personalities’ on here may seldom agree but I’m sure it’s accurate to say that we all appreciate you and everything you’ve done to keep LiR going . This despite your having an incredibly busy work schedule and an important family life. My first born kid came in 05 so I’m delighted that your daughter was born before another Arsenal title.
Thanks mate and huge respect. We’d be stranded without LiR.🥂
I definitely second your sentiments KP…thanks Ambarish!!
if MA let his kid grow out his unibrow for good luck, like the junior circuit version of a playoff beard, he had better keep it for at least another week…we’re going to need all the luck we can get when facing PSG
1) 100% second Kroenke’s comment at 7.52.
2) What a fucking disaster of a season – we’re stuck with the cunt forever now. I have it from reliable contacts that Arteta’s plan to surpass the Invincibles next season is to go the whole season without scoring a goal from open play.
Mart’s old man has Brazilian Putin vibes (I’m sure that’s where the comparison ends)
Eze’s a class act, a truly likeable figure
a lot of the starters want selfies with Dowman, which suggests he’s got stardom in his future
a few “loners” out there today, most notably Zubi, Kepa, Havertz, Tross, Ode and Jesus…maybe a sign of things to come (fingers-crossed)
Rice, Gabs, Saliba and Raya clearly run the room…probably not a bad thing considering
Thank you, KP, Vieira and Marc. Lucky to witness us lifting a trophy finally, many more to come.
Vieira – I just meant I am not there to witness rhe night of London when we won. I heard the streets were filled with men in red. A non footballing person could have confused it with the communist uprising lol. I have watched few games ar Emirates so I might have seen ya there somewhere. I have done a wonder myself, took a Chelsea and United fan to support Arsenal at Emirates. Still shame them about it haha
Eze is a personality in himself. Class man. MLS was emotional seeing that trophy. Rice was ecstatic. Saka had his dream fulfilled. Saliba, Gabriel were proud of their defending, Raya of his clean sheets and almost everyone was happy they beat that cunt Silva to another trophy.
A mature performance from Dowman but if I’m honest i would have liked to have seen him commit a few defenders with his outstanding dribbling skills, Dowman is an extraordinary talent and for him to reach his potential he must be allowed to take some risks with the ball otherwise we could have another Nwaneri situation.
Ambarish—I just meant that you hadn’t witnessed us win the PL crown since you became a fan of the club…Cheers
Ambarish – a big thank you for keeping the blog running. I was told in 1982 that it takes a real man to be a father of a daughter – my first was a girl and she controls me.
KP – Pep is now in charge of the Qatari football empire and his first task is to bring Girona back to the premiership in Spain. He muttered he was hoping KP would have already been there on the terraces but as you hadnt moved he would have to find another solution.
Marc – Arteta has a gilt edged contract awaiting his signature. The likes of Wicksy and Aitchoo will be drawling over the thought. I expect they will be in the mindset we will win the premiership again next season – if we do I will buy a hat made of marzipan.
Roll on August – I will not be watching the world cup. I have two invites in place (pencilled in) for home games in Marseilles and Bergamo. I was hoping Middlesbrough would win yesterday as a friend has a box at the home of the Smoggies.
I was forgetting next weekend – Denes is attending with his wife – their tickets are half the price of those allocated to the clubs. He is a Gooner having spent 17years in the City. He is doubtful of an AFC win but you never know.

I have no doubt we will win the league next season and by a wider margin than the 7 points this time.
I don’t think the players and manager received enough credit for getting over the line with a 5 game winning run after losing to city at the Etihad..
City crumbled under the pressure, 2 wins, 2 draws and a defeat in the run in may have surprised many but I was always of the opinion that we would get over the line.
Be prepared for a period of domination from the Arsenal , the future looks bright and I believe the handbrake will come off as Arteta is a certainty to buy a couple of elite offensive players whilst at the same time off loading at least 2 .
Kroupi and Alvarez are hopefully top of the list and I see no reason why we can’t go in for mbappe, and yes I do realise he comes with baggage but for me he is the closest we will get to Thierry Henry though of course not as good.
Sometimes a club needs to take a risk and mbappe could do for us what cantona did for united, Ferguson took a risk with cantona and was rewarded for showing courage in buying a player who by all accounts was unmanageable, of course ferguson got him on the cheap , mbappe will not come cheap but Arsenal football club have the money to compete for any player in the world and we should take advantage of our situation as any player looking for success will now want to come to Arsenal.
Just to point out that despite what some would say was a poor season for mbappe, he scored 42 goals in 40 starts.
Mbappe would be phenomenon. But with Pep gone, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd would just be fighting for 2/3/4/5 positions. We have a young squad, and the same set of players can go on and play for next 5 years without a drop in quality.
We will win a lot more in coming years. Hopefully. Upwards and Onwards.
Such a shame Everton couldn’t beat Spurs, but hey, I don’t mind sure shot 6 points every season.
Cheers Norg.

Sorry yes – I get it now. When my part of the world was picking Chelsea, United and City to call themselves winner, I chose to suffer for a very long time. I don’t like an easy life..

Interesting read that puts Arsenal, London and modern football in perspective.

The time for a club to strengthen is when it is at the top, this Arsenal team/squad is far from perfect as offensively we haven’t clicked though of course there have been some great goals but generally we have looked clunky in attack and have had to rely on our defensive stability to get us over the line, the evidence of that was during our spell of losing to city twice, Southampton and Bournemouth we were conceding 2 goals a game and lost them all as we didn’t have enough offensively to turn theose games in our favour.
Our final 7 games of the season Arteta dropped Rice back into the no 6 role who then dictated the game from deep and just as important used limited energy as he wasn’t playing the box to box midfielder.
Some, myself included, always believed that the no.6 role was always the most suited role for Rice and the team , though it’s fair to say that he did play the no.8 role well but for me he was starting to run on empty and I have always believed that a football brain is better than a workhorse and Rice had become a bit of a workhorse and was often seen bent over gasping for air after another one of many lung busting runs. Playing as the 6 has shown Rice’s true quality and superb football brain as he is a player who likes the play in front of him and is mot comfortable receiving the ball with his back to goal.
So where does that leave Zubimendi, on the bench I’m afraid as Skelly has already shown that he is a better box to box player and will break the lines when he sees the opportunity.
Zubimendi played at right back yesterday , so if timber and white are unavailable, which is a probability, could Arteta play him at right back against PSG at the weekend , to me this represents a risk as kvaratshelia is a threat of the highest order, it looks like it will be a straight choice between Zubimendi and Mosquera, both a different style of player and both not a s good as Timber in the right back position, I think Arteta will start with Mosquera and if he is struggling will be replaced by Zubimendi though it could easily be vice versa.
The game could be won and lost in our right back position , I’m not sure that Zubimendi is physically strong enough to cope with the running power of kvaratshelia.
