We will do it together!

Arsenal - London is Red

We have a horrible first half against Nurnberg when we went down 2-0 before Gabriel Jesus comes on as a substitute and scores within 2 minutes. We went ahead to win the game 5-3 with two goals from Jesus, two own goals from Nurnberg and an Elneny’s rocket which would have been in the top 10 best goals of season has it happened in any Premier League game.

There isn’t much to talk about the game. It was a 90 minute of practice session where Arteta played some young players and tried to integrate the new signings in Jesus, Marquinhos. The interesting part for me was the press conference of Gabriel Jesus after the match.

When asked about if he is worried after scoring 2 goals and fans will expect it every game, this is what he had to say.

Well, it’s most difficult when you know you start like this and people expect one or two or three goals every game but like I said, it’s just the beginning of a big journey because we have a lot of amazing players and then the squad is young. I’m still young as well, so yeah WE WILL DO IT TOGETHER!

That’s some straight to the point, from the heart words. I think Edu has been pretty successful in selling the young project to Gabriel Jesus and it’s refreshing to see Jesus talking of it.

I have been a critic of Mikel and Edu, and I haven’t seen much in last two and a half years to be onboard to the dream they are selling to the world. Unless I see something different this season, with better football, better in game management and better RESULTS, I won’t change my mind but for now, I am going to be positive and cheer up the lads and our season.

Less than a month left when we start our campaign against Crystal Palace on 5th August, playing Leicester, Bournemouth, Fulham and Aston Villa in the same month – I am pretty excited about an easy run of games. All of these games will be winnable, we have sorted out our goal scoring problems and everyone would, hopefully, up their game.

Midfield bothers me with doubt over Partey. We saw Maitland Niles playing in the warm up game but I doubt he will play any big part coming season. We are still short of two players and a back up Left Back when Tierney was subbed in 30minutes. But for now, I will let the club deal with it and push my hopes as high as expecting us to finish in top 3 season.

A top 3 finish should be achievable after Arteta has his own playing XI and some. Pool and City are level above us but Chelsea are in a shit storm and I have huge doubt about Ten Hag been able to manage the egos in Man United dressing room. They have CR7 going on a strike already. Spu*s may be a challenge but shame on me if I don’t expect us to finish season above them.

Short one today, hope you are having a nice weekend. Hold tight, we will do it together.

Gazpacho made with a leaky blender = texas chainsaw massacre. Well done mate for giving it a go. Souper! Let us know what it tastes like. I used to make it with ice cubes with thyme basil and coriander inside the ice. Didn’t affect the taste but it looked flashier.

I like your optimism despite being fully aware of the potential pratfalls in our set up.

Two more signings (CM and stand in LB) and a serious clear out and we’ll be in better shape teamwise than the end of last season. Anyone know why there was no Saliba yesterday? We have soooo many players in or around our roster right now – he really needs to sort out the overall squad. Any thoughts on how many players we should have this year?

  3. Aha. Just seen that upper threshold is 25 players. In that case, a no-brainer.

The terrible news is it isn’t a leaky blender – it’s a very nearly new very expensive food processor I’m just a messy (but brilliant) cook.

I’ve made it plenty of times before but the first time in the new food processor. I love the stuff, in hot weather it’s just the best.

  5. Kroenke

The 25 man squad list doesn’t include under 21’s so they can feature without being part of the registered squad.

  6. obviously this had the feeling of a preseason fixture, in that there was a lot of space and time on the ball for both clubs in key areas, but it’s always nice to see some tallies of quality…both teams scored two goals that were likely unstoppable regardless of the opponents, but I’m not sure, beyond that, what one can really take from this kind of affair…there’s no doubting that Jesus is a talented young player, with a glorious attitude to boot, which will hopefully rub off on those around him, but until we properly redress the Swiss elephant in the room and acquire a viable plan B option up top, I think anything above 4th is still a rather unrealistic expectation…here’s hoping that the coming weeks will see us ship a handful of periphery pieces and bring in a seminal player or two, so that there’s no built-in excuses for a slow start to the season

  7. Not sure I like hearing Chelsea have agreed terms with City for Sterling. With City having already sold Jesus (another wide forward for them) hope I’m being paranoid but Saka will be on the list to replace one of them.

The rumours of contract issues don’t help.

  8. Finally seen some of theNurberg game , and for once seen a proper assessment from Ambarish. We were quite poor in the first half . The defenders were all over the place and can only say that the much Tom -tomed Turner was an improvement on our Icelandic , which is not saying much.
Gabriel Jesus is a good finisher , but I see a bigger threat from Martineli. Smith Rowe had a nice strike , but Elneny belted a great one . 5-3 should be a worry. Also why no Saliba ? The best thing ,was giving game time to our youngsters so they get a feel of the game. Hitherto Mikel , normally threw them like scallops into a pan and expected a hors de oeuvre

  9. Seems like Saliba will be back for pre-season this week.

Extending contracts for Saliba and Saka is as important as new signings and will test Edu and Arteta once again. Hope we don’t let go / sell two generational talents

  10. It’s all getting very haute cuisine on here these days what with Marc’s Gazpacho and Hoopah’s scallops. Let’s hope that second half in Nuremberg was just an appetiser…

  11. Kroenke

I’m doing a Bavette steak (rare) tonight with a light salad, some bread and I might do some potatoes depending on how hot it is later!

This Kyrgios really is an arsehole.

  12. Oh and thanks for reminding there’s a final going on. Sunday evening I came out for a lemon tea (probably the best in the world, much better than what I do) in a cafe here and asked if they can put the final.

    It’s ON.

  13. I didn’t watch it (not really bothered since Andy Murray’s descent) but I’ve seen enough of Kyrgios to know he’s an unpleasant character on the surface. The top of men’s tennis these days is populated by some powerfully bad a-holes which, for me makes it a less attractive watch. I know that makes me a hypocrite because I still watch Arsenal and their shouty arm-wavy manager.

Steak Bavette eh Marc? If we ever have an LiR dinner, you know you’ll be in charge of catering right?

  14. Ambarish

When you look at how weak we are currently in CM there really should be a path back for Torreira – I wouldn’t mind if he went for a decent fee but we can’t even get £10 million for him.

  15. There is ManU vs Liverpool friendly on. At 36 minutes ManU already up 3-0.
Take is TenHag seems to have drastically improved ManU trapping and running. They no longer wait for the ball. Third goal was Martial who apparently been getting a resounding kucj up his backside and is no longer lackadaisical. Artera will get a reality check this year.. ManU are not pushovers this year.
But Liverpool seems to have lost their relentless edge. Remains to be seen if Klopp can get them up again

  16. I had been a Torreira when he came in and played for us. His goal against Spu*s and his celebration will remain in my mind forever. I so wished him to be successful but I think he just gave up.

A good manager should motivate him enough to make him focus on what’s going on and utilise him when we need him for now.

  17. Hoopah

Looks like it.. still early to say but Manures are not short of quality, it’s just the attitude and egos which have been killing them.

  18. I wouldn’t put too much down on a preseason performance good or bad it’s mostly about fitness. ManU players will be keen to impress and the new manager will be looking for a reaction.

Simple truth is ManU has been really poorly managed for years now. Next season they’ll be a lot better, same with the Spud’s. Conte will throw his toys out of the pram at some stage but to assume it’s going to happen this season is just pushing a narrative. Chelsea won’t have the Abramovich thing going on for half a season and will be there or there abouts.

Anyone thinking we’re nailed on for 4th right now is delusional we’re going to need at least another 2 probably three really good signings to even push for 4th.

  19. Would be perfect if Manure get their new manager bounce in the next few weeks only to see it belly flop off a cliff once the season starts. But Hoopah’s right in that they cannot be worse than they were last year.

  20. We didn’t get a new manager bounce, typical Arsenal 😆

The Chavs also mean business and Conte is putting a competing squad together which means the top end of the table will be crowded depending on how WHam, Leicester and Newcastle will be doing and if we loose the odd game to CP or Villa we will be in deep shit regarding CL next season..

Sort of get the feeling that Bumteta will aim for the EL trophy rather then getting CL through the league after all Unai did it but then he schooled Pep’s Gimp in the EL semis, don’t think that the MIT has that in his locker.

  21. Killroy
Arteta and other people who see themselves as part of the club establishment, eg the execrable propaganda twins Attwood and Pedro will not/not make any firm predictions about the coming season based neither on our own abilities nor those of other better managed teams. It’ll be another round of, ‘Look its year one, let the process (aagh I hate that word in this context) bed in, too early to know what we’re seeing etc. etc. ad nauseam.

Pedro is such a social climbing tosser. He thinks he’s been allowed on the top table because he’s sold his soul and that of Le Grove’s. I mean read his stuff right now and try to imagine it as a voice independent from that of the club’s… You might as well just read the match day programmes because at least the grammar and syntax are better.

  22. PS
Let’s have a chat later in the week about the final round of games. The two so far have been polar opposites. 🏉

  23. Kroenke

The reason you can see the brilliance of Arteta is because you don’t understand football!

Me neither but I take insults from certain types of people as a huge compliment.

  24. Marc
LOL. I’m just another know-nothing bee-atch who’s never worked a day in football! Long may it continue – there are as many truly awful people working in the PL as there are in that Tory party internecine battle to the death right now.

Pedro and Attwood can fucking eat each other as far as I’m concerned. Maybe I’ll have a go at a Gazpacho of my own (or a chilled Vichysoisse! ) as a starter to help them get going.

  25. England Women are quite a spirited lot. Direct, no pussyfooting about. Love to see our Arsenal Beth Mead . As for Miedema at Nederlands , is not as clinical as with Arsenal. It is to her interest that she signed again. Looks like gels with Arsenal team mates. Incidentally her partner is with West Ham ?
By and large , the Arsenal women internationals been playing better at the Club. Speaks volumes for our Women Manager.

  26. Hoopah

Whilst I’m not surprised that’s a real worry. We all know how Arteta reacts to anything he considers as even a minor slight.

  27. Can’t make my mind up about the statement released by a club this morning regarding the rape allegations. Assuming it is Partey – on one hand it’s a really stupid move to put a guy on show in a promotional tour who might be on trial for rape in a few of months on the other hand leaving him behind would basically out him to the world.

Not an easy one but I’m sure Arteta and Edu will find a really creative way to fuck it up beyond all expectations!

Expect Partey to be announced as Club Captain any day now.

  28. As far as Saliba is concerned I was always my believe that it was a matter of how pissed of he was in his handling. It looks like he is wanting to give the middle finger salute to the AFC hierarchy for the treatment he received and all the negotiating power is with him and his agent.

It now puts additional pressure on our defense with Saliba not wanting to play and Gabrielle definitely on Juve’s radar after them loosing De Ligt, Bumteta now also needs new CBs that were not as high a priority as DM & CM. Some of this shit is too fantastic to just make it up and hopefully accelerate the demise of Pep’s Gimp.

  29. Since no longer inclined to go to Le Boiled Cabbage
    …..
Grovellers can’t get off d**k of Djed Spence because he fucked us once now will keep on fucking again as the Les Grovel and bend over

  30. OmariHutchinson is going to Chelsea Juniors. Prospective talent akin to Saka as they say. Leaving since going down the pecking order because of Marquinhos. Think about it, if it was not the eye of Emery , Saka too might have been looking elsewhere.
The reason why am a diehard ArtetaOut . This arsehole is going to cost us dearly
