Jesus lands in better part of London

It took some time for Arsenal to announce it when everyone and their dog saw Gabriel Jesus posing in red and white. I don’t know the reason behind it but I’m happy with this one. We have a team who is young and we severely lacked personnel who are experienced and have won trophies to inculcate that winning mentality in the dressing room.

Jesus was a part of Brazil Squad which won Copa America in 2019. He has 4 premier league titles under his belt and an FA cup with Manchester City among other trophies. When you see CF like Vlahovic moving to Juventus in a whooping £66.6m, getting Jesus in £45 million sounds reasonable. Bringing someone from other league is always doubtful and we have seen players like Lukaku struggling after a big money move. No one can be more familiar with Premier League than Gabriel.

He will play as #9, not on the wings as some of us were speculating.

This sorts out our CF position. I believe in Eddie and with Europa I’m sure there will be enough game time between these two. We have a young hungry #14 and an experienced won-it-all in Jesus, we should do just fine.

To summarize, we have got a back up Keeper in Matt Turner, and sorted our striker position. We were in the run for Raphina but looks like he will be joining either Barcelona or Chelsea. I’m a fan of Raphina but it would have been criminal to get a wide player without sorting out midfield. I can understand the need to address back ups since we will be playing midweek but then we can’t expect to perform any better than last season with Xhaka and (injured) Partey in the midfield.

We don’t have enough quality players in midfield. I for one feel getting a MF is more important a LB back up to Tierney. Tavares did pretty okay in his first run and I think he can rotate just fine with Tierney. Tomi can play on either side of the pitch, Saliba is coming back so we can move White as RB if required. I mean what was the point of buying a versatile CB who can play as RB if we don’t gonna use him when it’s needed?

Fixing the midfield should be a priority now for Edu and Arteta. Lets not go into another season with Xhaka and Sambi to partner with Partey. We have shown interest in Tielemans but with only a price tag of 25m, that should have been completed by now. We need not one but two bodies unless we are promoting one of our youngsters (Patino?) with some serious game time. Rotation is not really a positive side of Arteta and if he prefers buying his way out, lets do it sooner rather than later.

Short one today, let me know how you feel about our recent signings in comments.

  1. Story coming out on the internet – an international football aged 29 based in North London has been arrested for rape. Out of our squad that could be Elneny, Xhaka or Partey. Out of the Spuddies it could be Son, Moura or Davies.

Looks like our starting midfield will be Elneny and Xhaka.

  2. I hope not, Marc. It would be devastating for us. Twitter has it that Partey was in training today, so.. we will know in few hours

  3. The claim (I appreciate it’s off the internet and even from supposed real newspapers you have to take it with a pinch of salt) is that the complaint was made today about an attack that happened in June a man was then arrested.

What time do players finish training? 2pm?

  4. Such a disturbing situation, regardless of the player’s true identity…I’ve seen all sorts of “erroneous” reports that point the finger of blame at both Xhaka and Partey…I doubt it will take long before the “rules” are circumvented and the name(s) is/are revealed…for now, my thoughts are with the victim, whomever they may be

Of course you are correct – the worse thing about this is it’s becoming a far too frequent occurrence.

These guy’s have enough money to have what ever they want and they still commit rape – life is getting far too fucked up.

  6. Cheers Marc, I certainly wasn’t suggesting that I was the only one with the best interests of the victim in mind, I just remember some rather fucked up scenarios when I was playing high level sports, during my late teens and early 20s, which invariably consume my thoughts whenever these sorts of stories rear their ugly heads

  7. I’m not sure how youngest team in premier league is a selling point for us. I was reading just arsenal dot com @TRVL and was surprised with their reporting.

There is a reason teams pay 350k+/week wages to Salah and KDB, because experience has it’s own merit.
