‘Did you think you had Eze’ – asked a reporter from Thomas Frank. Thomas, appointed only recently as the manager of a shite club, responded in an attempt to create some humour by asking back –
‘Who is Eze?’
Well, he just scored a hattrick in a NLD after 47 fucking years and by the time 90 mins were done, Spurs fans were already at home, probably sobbing and blaming the cold. If you are one of those and delusional enough to think you own North London, let me just say that even with a 4-1 win, we were more frustrated than you lot because we couldn’t keep a clean sheet. You are used to losses so that was just a regular day for you.
Right, that was a brilliant evening for us Gooners. A 4-1 victory over Spurs, at Home, hat-trick from the man who had almost joined Spurs but the club brought him to Emirates in the last minutes, Saka dancing and fans staying and singing once the match was over. And we did all this without our first choice striker, and our best defensive player while Hincapie started his first game in place of Gabriel. Our captain was missing too.
We took the lead in the 36th minute when Mikel Merino set up a beautiful ball to Trossard who, very precisely, put it into the nets. Eze, doubled the lead in 5 minutes when he put the ball into the nets courtesy of Rice’s assist. We went into the break 2-0 and Frank made some changes hoping he could turn it around. I am pretty sure he is aware of the spursy nature of that team but hey, he is paid enough to at least try. Eze made it 3-0 only 1 minute into the second half, assisted by Timber but that lad was dreaming of something more.
Richarlison scored a good one from far away. When you play a high line and your goal keeper is involved in setting things up, this can happen. I don’t mind it more than Raya, who would be furious to not add this game to another one of his clean sheets. Frank made some more changes but Eze scored his 3rd in the 76th minute and made sure that no one but the red and whites celebrate the day.
Spurs were so shite we didn’t even need to use set pieces to beat them.
We had finished 2nd, three seasons in a row. We lost points in dead games, injuries derailed us and there were some very odd decisions from the manager. This season, we lost our best defender and yet Hincapie finished his 1st full game with a 9.5/10. Odegaard is out injured but Eze comes in and does better. I was doubting Trossard but he has proven that he can play better than Martinelli when he is given a chance. We have a saucy striker who looks adapted now, was out injured but we didn’t miss him. Saka was world class and will remain so.
Now, onto the next game in Champions League tonight against Bayern. Only 3 teams are with a perfect score so far, and two of them are playing each other today. Bayern sits at top of the table with equal points and same goal difference but have scored 3 extra goals than us. That also means we have conceded 3 less than them, in fact, we have conceded fuck-all so far in 4 games in the group stages and Bayern will test that today. We will be without our best CB partnership but Hincapie dropped a bombshell of a performance against Spurs so I am not really bothered.
To finish in top 8 and avoid 2 extra qualifying games later, we have to win at least 6 of the 8 games. After today, we will be playing Club Brugge, Inter and Kairat. Inter Milan is the third team with all wins so far. Frankly, it’s not a do or die situation for us but there’s always some uncertainty in Champions League. We saw Chelsea beating Barcelona last night, and Newcastle losing to Merseille thanks to 2 goals from the ex-Arsenal man, Aubameyang. Anything can happen, so make the most out of what’s in front of you.
Martinelli and Madueke are back in the team. Odegaard might also be available, though I doubt Mikel will bench the hattrick man for him. Mikel, when asked about facing Bayern, had to say this –
For sure, this is the kind of game in the competition that we want to face, and we’ve been very consistent in both competitions; they have been as well, and tomorrow is a great test for us to see where we are.

A very challenging game indeed, and the one which will highlight whether we have progressed to win something of importance of this year. Beat Bayern today and the boys will go home in confidence. Also, there can be only one team sitting at the top and we would love to be the one.
See you during the game.

That’s the way to do it! Only team unbeaten, one goal conceded. Tidy
Looking back at some of the in-game comments. So many lols to be had. I’d do my normal cut and paste but too much dopiness to choose from.
Vera and his “we only score from set pieces” copypaste. Some clown bemoaning our supposed ‘profligacy’.
Marc probably didn’t go because he thought it would be boring because he listens to the daft yank too much.
Here’s the thing, we’ve gone to too many of these type of games in the past knowing we weren’t quite good enough, and with the oppo knowing it too. Even if we scored first it was still backs to the wall. Not today.
Bayern also knew we were the real deal. They showed us respect today, you could see that. And you could see them running out of ideas. First half was a bit nervy, but even during the periods Bayern were on top, they kept the handbrake on. They couldn’t risk going for it and knew that.
In the battle of false nines, Merino schooled Kane. I hardly recall booing him second half, he was pocketed. While Merino lead that line again and linked things up so efficiently. He’s not a striker but he’s really good.
I think it was the right call to play MLS and Mosquera but it was hard going for them, understandably, but plenty of learning points.
Some people, okay Vera still.claim that Rice is one of the ‘shoehorned’ players and was given ‘assurances’ to play at no8. They’re not paying attention, another mom performance. If we played Rice like he was still at West Ham, that would be an extraordinary waste.
It’s a good time to be a gooner. Great nights at the ems coming thick and fast.
It’s not a good time to be a squeaky yank on a blog still acting like it’s 2021. We’ve spent money and the team is better as a result. That’s a consequence of good planning and smart management.
I’m going to catch some and spud accounts on YT to add to the entertainment served up by Vera and Marc on here. All I’m missing is that clown Art Fraud and his Arteta tourettes.
On to the Rent Boys, we’ve got a title to play for.
not to mention, we’ve had the most friendly CL scheduling you could possibly hope for with both Atleti and Bayern at home…the only away fixture of consequence is the upcoming one against Inter…when it comes to MA we all know it’s those away matches that are most informative due to his oftentimes gutless tactical tendencies…as for our blind squirrel mouthpiece it was only a matter of time before he actually found a nut…I think it’s important to not forget how many times this trolling fuck suggested he wasn’t all-in on MA, so as to appeal to any on the fence.regulars, now you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a sentence with the word masterclass in it…just keeping it a buck
Vera, don’t ever stop making up rumours, getting it wrong.
I was wrong about Arteta, he’s actually a good manager. When you’re prepared to learn and grow as a person you can progress. Or you can remain a squeaky yank demanding apologies that’ll never come from strangers on the internet.
I said I wouldn’t do my copypaste parry section but you’re too.funny to ignore.
“He’s trying to appeal to the on the fence regulars!!” Sit down you old fool.

keeping in mind that even though I’m not completely sold on the whole Rice acquisition gig
you dumb fuck, I was talking about Pricksy…keep my name out of your shit-stained pie hole
Last night was a prime example of what a strong bench gives a team with madueke and martinelli coming on to secure the victory with superbly worked goals, plus we had the likes of odegaard, Ben white and calafiori coming on to completely destroy Bayern who had no answer to the way Arteta changed the game in the 2nd half.
No point in in me replying to TRVL abuse , obviously he’s hurting so I’ll leave him to wallow in his grief as he watches the manager he despises destroy the best teams in Europe.
Real Madrid 5-1
City 5-1
Atletico madrid 4-0
Bayern munich 3-1..
We now await the return of gyokeres, jesus , havertz and Gabriel and hope that the Trossard injury is not too bad.
Skelly is probably the only concern at present , so I forsee very few starts for him in the games that matter in the near future , play him in the league cup and the dead champion league ties in the new year to rebuild his confidence, he is only 19 so time is on his side , the same with Nwaneri and Dowman.
As an Arsenal fan ( unless you are TRVL) there is not a better sight than seeing Martinelli receiving the ball on the half way line goal side of the opposition defence, if there is one player we can trust to finish in this situation it is Martinelli , a superbly weighted inch perfect ball from Eze that committed the keeper and allowed the rapid Martinelli to do the rest ….beautiful open play football at its best from the Arsenal.
Chelsea at the weekend is on paper another tough game, they were superb v Barca on Tuesday so we will see if they are prepared to attack us with the same intensity as they attacked barca, or will Arsenal’s fear factor kick in and reduce Chelsea to parking the bus like so many have done this season.
The thing is , if Chelsea come out firing with a high intensity press (similar to bayern) , Arsenal have enough experience to know that if they can get through the opening half hour then the press will diminish and we will take control of the game
We don’t want a game of chaos as that will play into chelsea’s hands, we need to stay calm and disciplined and then hopefully our class will see us through , a draw will be acceptable
Some are talking about beating Chelsea and the title is won , that’s rubbish as far as I’m concerned , we are on a fantastic undefeated run but one defeat can halt our momentum..
It wasn’t meant rage bait Vera.
But your name, while you keep saying daft things stays firmly in my pie hole ya squeaky daft yank.
“We had the kindest draw of all teams!!!”
You’ve got the stupid button on auto again.
Wicksy, in fairness to MLS, he ended up as a left back through circumstances and did really well there.
While he’s a good left back, I think he’s a bit short of top tier in that position and get the impression he’s viewed as a weaker link by opposing teams.
But you’re right, time’s on his side.
Skelly needs to be slotted into a team that plays to his experience and ability. That is central midfield I think.
He struggled a little against Olise at times but most FBs would.
No one is saying anything derogatory on here about him – we all need to continue in that mindset of backing him and being patient. And he clearly merits his squad place. Timber is worth his weight in gold, as is Cauliflower. But keep Skelly ready in case of any injuries and Carabao/FACup matches.
Another brilliant factor about this week’s CL action was how badly all the other PL clubs except Chelsea fared. All others suffered confidence-fucking losses and all their managers (Slot, Howe, Frank and even Guardiola) are all on the bubble of coming under serious job scrutiny.
My son and I watched the BM game together – even when the spuds were ahead twice, there was an unshakable belief that they’d end up losing and so it proved.
Achoo–“It wasn’t meant rage bait Vera”…it’s difficult to take someone seriously when they continually offer up these sort of word salad gems…bottom liine is that you and Pricksy are dime a dozen posters who couldn’t make hay on any of the high traffic sites you used to frequent so you turned your attentions towards a site where most of the regular contributors have taken a dissenting view, when it comes to the manager, as you knew full-well that the only way you were ever going to get noticed was if you played the role of trolling fuckwits…how terribly pathetic
now if you had actually read what was posted yesterday you would realize that we provided a fairly balanced description of what transpired on the pitch…when our performance was lacking in the first-half, we addressed that fact, then when we ramped things up in the second-half, which was certainly never a given, we spoke about the positives changes that took place…of course you might not approve of the way in which we expressed our opinions, as they might not be slurpy enough for your liking, but I couldn’t give a flying fuck
history tells us that our skepticism towards our manager is well-founded, as his gutless tendencies, especially in big games, has been a real stumbling block over the past several years…so the fact that he has grown a pair for a grand total of 2.5 CL/PL matches in the entirety of his 6 years doesn’t mean that he’s earned a free pass when it comes to criticism…far from it in fact…until he proves that he’s no longer the weak link in this endlessly-phased project, he will be judged accordingly…as for yesterday, that wasn’t a masterclass, but it was a more bold than usual tactical approach, which clearly caught a still relatively green Kompany off guard (likely because they’ve faced very little adversity thus far this campaign) so whereas I applaud that decision I’ll reserve judgement on the import of said decision until this becomes the norm and not the exception to the rule
as a side note, I’m not a Yank you fucking twat, but the fact that you’ve attempted to use this little fallacious nugget as some sort of amateur hour tactic so as to demean me in some capacity, speaks to the simpleton manner in which you conduct your business…know this, even if you devoted the rest of your miserable life trying to fuck with my shit you would still reperesent a blip on my radar and then you would inevitably die an empty and defeated man, so for the love of god stop wasting yours and my time on this fruitless endeavour
Vera,
What a load of drivel. Did anyone bother reading all that? No other sites have dimwits like you, fortunately. And you stay off them so you don’t get ripped even more, sensibly.
Sit down squeaky.
There’s a number of aspects regarding Skelly that need to be kept in mind. He’s young and young players form can be inconsistent. He’s not naturally a full back – that doesn’t mean he can’t go on to become a very good one but it will take time. Most of all he needs playing time to develop he’s only had 87 minutes of PL football this season and we’re basically a third of the way through it, you can’t expect a player to perform at a top level if they’re not getting regular football.
What the hell is going on at Liverpool?
I can’t remember an occasion where a major club has won the league and then fallen off a cliff so quickly – especially with the amount of money they spent in the summer.
Was last season the aberration and Slot isn’t top quality? If he doesn’t get a grip on things soon he’ll find himself out of a job.
Marc—I think it’s.a combination of factors: (1) their backer replacements haven’t worked as of yet, (2) the loss of TAA has hurt them from both a build-up play and providing service into the box perspective, (3) the overspend at the Striker position, instead of using some of those monies to properly redress their backline issues, has left them exposed at times this season, (4) the fact that Isak didn’t fit the tactical script from last season, combined with his late arrival, has forced them to adjust on the fly(which they haven’t dealt with well), (5) Salah’s a defensive liability so when he’s not scoring in bunches he’s more of a negative than a positive at times, (6) the fact that they overachieved last season then spent so much in the offseason raised expectations to such a level that it appears as if the pressure has gotten to them and (7) Wirtz hasn’t adjusted whatsoever to the PL(plus his more recent injury) has left them relying too much on wide side play, which wouldn’t be so probematic if they hadn’t lost Diaz and if Salah was performing at the same sort of level as last season…not to mention, they’ve had some bad “luck” in front of goal, which isn’t a legit excuse considering how much “luck” favoured them last season, especially late in games, but a reality nonetheless…what a mess…I like Slot, but he could bbe in deep shit if things continue down this same path too much longer
could be…
TRVL
Or it could be that the Arsenal manager has done a far better job of integrating 8 new signings into the squad whilst (unlike slot)facing a crippling injury list.
There you go …fixed it for you.
KP
I think that using Skelly in midfield is a good shout as it takes him out of the firing line.
Calafiori at present has really made the left back position his own , but he does pick up injuries through being a little reckless when tackling, hopefully Arteta and the coaching staff have told him to stay on his feet more when challenging, he is beginning to have a Maldini vibe about him with his physique, athleticism and technique ability.
TRVL
Carragher was giving Slot 3 matches to save his job the other day saying anything less than 7 points from their next 3 PL matches would see him in serious trouble.
Its certainly not a simple fix purely because its not a single problem.
Very amusing though.
