One last dance…

One last dance…

We have come to the final day of the European season. We are already the English Champions and need to beat one of the best teams on the planet today in Budapest in the Champions League final to win something we have never done before in our club history. It’s only the second time ‘ever’ we are playing the finals. The last time we did, our GK was red carded in the 18th minute, we took the lead with 10 men but 2 back to back Barcelona goals in the fourth quarter of the match robbed us of the trophy.

Now, I love a neutral venue, one legged knockout game because it all comes down to who wants it more. PSG, led by Luis Enrique is playing some mind blowing attacking football. Arteta, on the other hand, prefers a controlled, possession based, wait for the moment type, defensive football. Two very different managers and two very different styles of play but I believe, in a game like this, it doesn’t matter.

What matters is who is willing to die and kill on the pitch, and who is better at it.

In the team news, Timber might make it today but I would rather go for Mosquera. He is match fit and can do the job at RB. Dembele is a doubt for PSG so lets just hope he doesn’t make it.

If you ask me, I would go with the same playing XI we did against Burnley bar one change. Raya in the goal, Saliba and Gabriel as CBs, and Calafiori on the left. A midfield of Odegaard, Eze and Rice would be perfect and Saka, Trossard starts on the wings. And, GYOKERES STARTS UP TOP, NOT HAVERTZ.

Havertz header contributed to the title, but lets not get emotional and lets stick to a hungry, physical, clinical striker.

I am excited. The last game of the season for us is the biggest one, and against the best team on the planet. There’s no margin of errors, and chances are that even if you do everything right, it may not be enough. On the other hand, we could neutralise their attacks for 85 minutes, and score off a set piece towards the dying minute. Anything can happen and that’s what makes it the biggest trophy.

Right, that’s me done. See you during the game.

When Raya is outstanding on plucking a ball , those aerial crosses are an absolute waste.
    Major intelligence failure by Enrique

  2. Ambarish K

Enrique has gone defensive. And he don’t know what to do with Hincapie injury. We are playing with 10 men actually.

  3. NORG

Dont worry about Hincapie when we have set piece

  4. Marc

Someone needs to come up with the stat’s on how many corners we’ve scored this season that haven’t been taken by either Rice or Saka.

Because I’m guessing they’ll look very different to the stat’s of the ones that were taken by either of them.

  5. Marc

Penalties are a horrible way to settle any match.

  6. Hoopah.

Gyokeres penalties are Dembele level or vice versa

  7. Marc

The commentators really are full of shit.

  8. Marc

    Bring me the cunts head.

  9. Hoopah.

Was wondering why Gabriel and not Timber or Saliba or Raya !

    El B for a reason

  10. Killroy-TM

Ambarish the Ref is not the cunt, Arsenal players tried to fuck with him and lost.,

Arteta is the cunt full stop.

  11. NORG

wrong man taking the penalty – he usually scores wuth his head

We will try again next season. This team gave us more than we expected… We are the Champions of England, 2nd best in Europe.

We will reboot and retry.. keep your heads high lads..

    Over and out.

Unfortunately the game will be remembered for the 2 penalty decisions during the 90 minutes which both went in PSG’s favour , on another day both decisions could have gone in our favour and it would have been a comfortable win…personally I think they were both pens.
As for the game I can’t say I was impressed with our football , we played like underdogs who were scared to put their foot on the ball and played with little or no composure or confidence, in fact Lewis skelly was the one player who tried to play his normal game and take the game to PSG.
I’m not sure why Gabriel was ahead of timber and zubimendi for the final penalty but as I predicted today , it would go to extra time and pens and from then on it is a lottery who wins.

I remember when Brady and Rixy missed against Valencia.
Mario Kempes missed as well, so it felt retrievable. Hot summer nights back then did seem to last forever.

I was fuckin sick, especially after West Ham caned us a few days before.

Now I dont fell nothing but fuckin but contempt when these slags lose.

    in fact, I enjoy it.

To all those gooners who went today down the Angel without looking like a cunt in the home kit, drinking and supporting your local Islington boozer , I fuckin salute you.

to all the other plastics , I say fuck off and rot.

you sell out KSE OUT cunts.
    you enablers
    you cunts

    Well done Enrique
    class

I watched with a group of passionate(fucked up) supporters at a local Arsenal-friendly club…needless to say there was a lot of men 15 years my senior shedding plenty of tears when all was said and done…mixed emotions for myself, I wanted us to win but still not a fan of that thin margins approach…I guess some will say it almost worked, but it didn’t…that’s really all that matters

it was clear that once we scored we were going to park the bus and make PSG have to navigate their way through our 11…tough ask from the 6th minute on, but there’s no doubt that PSG are far less dangerous when they’re not playing in space with pace…interestingly enough Havertz has scored his best two goals in an Arsenal uniform in our last 2 matches…tonight’s was a bit fortuitous in the build-up, but well finished nonetheless…my opinion of Kai hasn’t changed, although I do like when he shows flashes of how he made his name with Lever…the flopping is still a serious problem, as it’s spread throughout much of the squad now…any official who has done their homework will find it difficult to make those cunt-hair calls…you take the good, you take the bad (Facts of Life)…the Noni situation was much ado about nothing because he hooked the defenders arm…more of our flopping dark arts bullshit…Noni has been on the naughty list for the better part of the season.

late on it looked as if it’s was going to be decided by whoever executed on the counter, but we barely threatened and they cocked up their opportunities…Barcola has speed to burn but his touch lets him down far too often…extra time was like an Arteta practice drill except that we were on the receiving end of the sideways borefest…I thought it might have been short-sighted on PSG’s part to not push more, so as to avoid the shootout against the superior Keeper, but in the end it didn’t matter…we defended well, but whenever you concede your style of play to the opposition, it usually means you believe that the other side is fundamentally better

finally, even though I’m sure Gabs volunteered for the role, there’s no reason why he should be our 5th taker…I feel for him yet I’m still pissed at both him and the manager for enabling that situation to exist…there’s no doubt that this speaks to our lack of finishing depth, so we still need to find a way to recruit players who can win in spite of the oft-times chickenshit tactics of the manager…it’s not like I don’t get why Arteta pursued that particular tactical course, but that doesn’t make it right…we were like Brentford playing PSG, without the effective countering…that’s not worth the price of admission on most nights…I just hope we don’t get clouded by the notion that if we run that thin margins gig back success will be a foregone conclusion…you deduct a reasonable amount of those set piece tallies and things could look decidedly different next season

    Good morning all,

Already been playing my Louis Armstrong , What a wonderful World on my 12inch vinyl of course this morning.
Not felt so fucking jolly since, mmm lets think …
Southampton beat us in the FA CUP.

I am surprised the moronic cunt didn’t try and ask that to replayed because of their ‘spying’

This cunt does not deserve the Champions League. He deserves absolutely fuck all from the way the team is set up every week.

Nor do the plastic cunts who don’t want a manager like Enrique or players like Mbappe despite shelling out fuckin fortunes to the billionaire carpet baggers

They prefer this moronic cunt instead and his expensive cack.

Cunts, the fucking lot of them.
    Rot.

“Arsenal were in dreamland after just five minutes, as Kai Havertz produced a fabulous finish to put them ahead, but rather than pile on the pressure, the Gunners retreated into a low block, which has been the defining feature of their season”

Fergie’s text to PSG: “Well done, it was a tough night for you, but you played against a boring team that did nothing but defend.” Arsenal was limited to a 24.7% possession average — the lowest in a final since records began in 2004

just a few notable comments regarding Arteta’s typical chickenshit tactics…obviously no one would expect Fergie to say anything nice about his old rivals, but he’s not wrong

I was just about to say much the same.

If selling Arteta ball was given to the best marketing people on the planet to push the best they could come up with is “we make Tony Pulis teams look exciting”.

Some fool made a remark about how we were ‘back under Wenger’. So stupid if you recall how shit we were under Wenger

Back among the real fans, we’ve had a blast today at the parade. Consensus seems to be a good season. Losing a UCL final by the closest ot margins to an the oil backed current champions is the most feeble of reasons to wet the bed. But bedwetters gonna wet I suppose. Even 5 years of continual progesss in.

Expect for Fat Fraud who wants Mbappe again today or the manager of the UCL champions. He’s just another knee jerk tosser venting because football has left him behind and he’s priced out both financially and culturally.

Marc will of course bitch on here but shows his true convictions by renewing his pretend ST and claim he went ‘last October’ and doesn’t know why.

I don’t know what happened to the dude with the fake son Junior who cured cancer while piloting spaceships, I can only assume he got bored of tall tales and being wrong about Tets and other managers.

Talking of which, everyone went very quiet about Potter, Frank and Ange this season. Come on, you super fans!

KP, I get you’re an actual fan unlike the plastics and role players but “i don’t like Tets, so want him gone” is a little pathetic. You may even be right and he may be a thoroughly despicable human being, although he probably isn’t. But his role isn’t to win popularity contests on a blog, it’s to win. Try and separate the two and work out what his priority should be from there.

Squeaky Vera will shift the goalposts and find another spurious reason for being performatively angry at Areta while ignoring the main one, his publicly self humiliation by the four years of his idiocy preserved online. Doing all this while using diction of some caricature 80s police sergeant. Full of ‘left nuts’, ‘can’t hairs’, ‘dicks’, ‘growing a pair’, all used tens of times in place of insight. Some weird cop based kink, probably sees himself as dirty Harry while concocting an odd back story of martial arts and MMA like a budget version of the fantasist Steven Seagal with corny dialogue to match.

And of course every now and then he brings it slightly more up to date with post 4chan babble, ‘fucktard’, and some other terminally online saddo phrases.

But of course, he gave us the classic ‘winners WIN!’ He used the caps, like a lonely boomer.
By even Squeaky Vera’s metrics, he makes Tets a winner. All the angry 1980s phrases won’t change that ya daft yank.

My metrics were very simple, ‘are we a better team now than when he started?”

I said we were. I was right. The rest is people trying hard to move on from their idiocy and belying a fundamental lack of maturity. Don’t let anger blind you to my wisdom. Perhaps learn from me like I kept advising.

If you’re biggest complaint is “we didn’t win the champs league, waaaah!!” I can only advise you to get some funking perspective.

Been a fun season, this blog made it all the more fun. And the posts full of idiotic receipts are a gold mine of unintentional humour.

Cheers, as Vera used to say to me before he lost his rag and kept losing it thereafter.

Champions of England, you know what we are!
