We have come to the final day of the European season. We are already the English Champions and need to beat one of the best teams on the planet today in Budapest in the Champions League final to win something we have never done before in our club history. It’s only the second time ‘ever’ we are playing the finals. The last time we did, our GK was red carded in the 18th minute, we took the lead with 10 men but 2 back to back Barcelona goals in the fourth quarter of the match robbed us of the trophy.
Now, I love a neutral venue, one legged knockout game because it all comes down to who wants it more. PSG, led by Luis Enrique is playing some mind blowing attacking football. Arteta, on the other hand, prefers a controlled, possession based, wait for the moment type, defensive football. Two very different managers and two very different styles of play but I believe, in a game like this, it doesn’t matter.
What matters is who is willing to die and kill on the pitch, and who is better at it.
In the team news, Timber might make it today but I would rather go for Mosquera. He is match fit and can do the job at RB. Dembele is a doubt for PSG so lets just hope he doesn’t make it.
If you ask me, I would go with the same playing XI we did against Burnley bar one change. Raya in the goal, Saliba and Gabriel as CBs, and Calafiori on the left. A midfield of Odegaard, Eze and Rice would be perfect and Saka, Trossard starts on the wings. And, GYOKERES STARTS UP TOP, NOT HAVERTZ.
Havertz header contributed to the title, but lets not get emotional and lets stick to a hungry, physical, clinical striker.

I am excited. The last game of the season for us is the biggest one, and against the best team on the planet. There’s no margin of errors, and chances are that even if you do everything right, it may not be enough. On the other hand, we could neutralise their attacks for 85 minutes, and score off a set piece towards the dying minute. Anything can happen and that’s what makes it the biggest trophy.

Mosequera is a forced pick, Hincapie I’m surprised by but you never know about Calafiore’s fitness. Massive decision on Skelly (what’s happened with Zubi?) the two divisive selections are leaving Eze on the bench and starting Havertz up front.
On Havertz I’m not surprised and I told you all a couple of weeks ago Arteta would go with him.

There is a personal reason I hate France. Me, along with 2 of my friends applied for Schengen through France when I was in London. Both of them got it on 11th Feb, and they did a trip to Barcelona on 12/13th. Covid Lockdown was put in place from 15th, and I got my passport back on 16th. Cunts.

That wasn’t a criticism of Hincapie I just think Calafiore is Arteta’s preferred option – I think Calafiore isn’t 100% fit hence the decision.
We’re going to need our defence to be at it today because PSG have the ability to hurt us.
I think Arteta’s plan today is to bring in Eze and Gyokeres on with 20 – 30 minutes left when PSG tire – problem with that is I’m not sure it’ll be PSG who tire.
We could spend a lot of time today chasing them.
