12-points lead? v Bournemouth

Right, we are out of Carabao Cup and FA Cup, but not everything is lost. We are 11 points clear of Man City in Premier League and we can take that lead to 12 points if we beat Bournemouth today. City do have 2 games in hand, but if they win both, we will still have a 6 point lead with only 6 games left for the season. In Champions League, we have a 1-0 advantage against Sporting and the second leg is at home. If we managed to get at least a draw, we will be playing Atletico (most likely) in the semi finals. I would rather play Atletico than Flick’s Barcelona.

The chance of lifting a trophy is still a possibility. And a win today will improve that possibility even more. Bournemouth are sitting in the bottom half of the table, and I hope we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot today.

Playing XI is out and I still don’t understand what has gotten into Arteta’s mind.

Why is Martinelli in the playing XI when you have Hincapie available. It’s not the time to be concerned about the injuries, because a loss in any of the games could mean a title. I’m OK with rest of the selection, Eze could have played ahead of Havertz but I’m not sure how much of his fitness is back.

I don’t understand the fact that we spend more than 250m on midfielders (Rice, Zubimendi, Norgaard, Havertz, Odegaard) and yet, we always have 2 DM-profile players and an option to choose from a non-performing Odegaard with a out-of-form Havertz. Anyway, that shouldn’t be a problem for a team sitting on 1st, playing against a bottom half team I suppose.

We need to win today. Man City has to visit Chelsea tomorrow and though I don’t have much confidence in Chelsea beating them, anything can happen. In last 3 seasons, we have always been the favorites going into last 7-8 games but have given it away. There are 7 games left, and 7 test of whether we have learned something over the years.

Right, game starts in an hour. See ya.

Everyone relax, if you think spunking 4 goals at home is the way to UCL success, the stats are against you.

Tony Adams and Alan Hansen.are sitting at home with PTSD after that defensive shambles.

Yes Marc, PSG struck oil. Pretty easy to go from irrelevance to cultural icons with a bit of financial doping and sportswashing intent.
Do you think rappers were wearing PSG kits at Glastonbury even 15 years ago?

Next you’ll be trying to convince me, ManC didn’t cheat their way to significance. The thing is, you can’t buy authenticity. Our team, I still consider you a supporter, albeit fairweather, so it’s our team had that. You should enjoy that.

Anyway, if you thought PSG didn’t strike oil, you can catch up on the last 15 years here

    Anyways, big game tomorrow.
Whoever you support, it’s sure to be one for the defensive purists. I can’t wait to see some grown up defending

I’m going to wind down with some Libratadores. You think of reasons why you think the team that blitzed the UCL group stages make you unhappy and then ask how you could possibly make yourself less unhappy? Maybe supporting Arsenal might help as supporting the oppo isn’t .

I don’t get the collective panic on here about our opponents, actual and prospective.

It’s not like we haven’t beaten, even soundly spanked a couple, any of them in the last two seasons. Everyone chill, watch and revel in a worthy 1-0.

Real considering Allegri, Pochetino Deschamps and Mourinho to take over from their says the rumour mill.

Some might praise that as being imaginative rather than the dull option of picking a famous name, any old famous name for want of original thought.

Watching the psg/Bayern game was reminiscent of the days when the Arsenal under wenger played with such freedom and lack of defensive structure.
I’m talking about the fabregas/rvp/ nasri/ hleb/wilshire period when for me we played the most pleasing to the eye football in my lifetime, one and 2 touch football played at pace that was a joy to watch and all done with wenger working on a pittance compared to his competitors …and they won sweet fa.
Strangely enough it was the team that followed them that received the bulk of the criticism despite winning 4 fa cups, we had the perfect partnership of Ozil and Sanchez plus cazorla , all 3 of them would walk into the present side.
So what we saw tonight was 2 teams who put on a spectacle just the way Wenger’s side used to , I would say at 5-2 down Bayern looked dead and buried, it was strange to see PSG be so naive whilst holding a 3 goal advantage , that was the time when they should have slowed the game down to protect the 3 goal lead, I’m sure Wenger or Arteta would be crucified if they ever let a 3 goal lead slip the way Enrique did tonight with his naive approach in the last 20 minutes , if Psg fail to reach the final then the finger should be pointed at Enrique…

Following the 2025 summer window, where Mikel Arteta spent roughly £250–£263 million, Arsenal’s total squad assembly cost reached approximately €992.4 million (£826M). In contrast, PSG’s current squad cost is estimated at €772–€790 million, as they have shifted away from record-breaking individual fees toward a more balanced youth recruitment strategy…Achoo has once again proven that he’s a fake news know-nothing lying sack of shit

not to mention, who would be so fucking obtuse as to compare our present day MIT with some of the greats, including Wenger (at least the pre-Emirates version)…keep it up and you’re going to need the jaws of life to get your foot out of your mouth…like I’ve always said, you’re the gift that keeps on giving…sweet dreams bitch tits

make no mistake playing AM is nothing like facing Bayern or PSG…they’ve not only lost 4 of their last 5 Liga matches, they likewise lost to a fairly pedestrian and out of form Sociedad side in the Copa final…of course they should never be taken lightly so long as that fiery bastard Simeone is patrolling the sidelines, but I get the sense that his tenure could come into question if they finish outside the top 4, which seems likely, and they fail to advance to the CL final…maybe that will motivate them to raise their level of play or maybe they are who their record suggests they are, a slightly above average side who currently sits 25 points out of first place

by any logical metrics we’ve had the sweetest of rides to the finals…now to be fair our good fortune wasn’t all down to luck, as we needed to handle our business in the preliminary round so that we received the advantages that came with sitting in the catbird seat…that’s why we faced a bang average Sporting side in the quarters and why we avoided both PSG and Bayern in the semis…in fact, if it wasn’t for our recent underwhelming performances and MA’s propensity to cock things up we would be considered heavy favourites over AM…regardless, anything other than a decisive victory over Atleti, who’ve been uncharacteristically leaky on defence recently, should be looked upon as another reason why MA’s managerial tenure has run its course

of course it’s not outside the realm of possibilities that we could win it all, as anything can happen in a one-off situation, but if that were to take place it would have far more to do with the opposition having an off-night than us winning the day on our own merits

My kids tell me Captain Tony Adams ran the London marathon at the weekend in about 6 hours. I wonder if he did it backpedalling with his right arm raised hoping to pick up some offside offenders. I love TA.

    Ooo-ooo Tony
    Ooo-ooo Tony Adams!

I can’t wait to see some grown up defending

As a former centre half, I must say I agree (although 4 or 5 successful counter attacks would not go down badly with a clean sheet).

I think we’ll have to start calling you ….Catennaitcho! I’ll get my anorak.

Look at Squeaky with his usual “this will happen but of course it might not” waffle piece.

And the customary “if Arsenal do well it’s because everyone else let themselves down”

And today’s variation on the theme, “anything less than a sound spanking of the team that just knocked out Barca is failure”

You really don’t like Arsenal do you? Your role play needs work.

  12. Aitcho

Squeaky Vera, as always your hatred of Arsenal blinds you to context.
You’re now slobbering over a team that ‘only’ spent less than us over the last 3 windows.

If your points are that PSG and ManC are examples of what good managers can do on a shoestring and you don’t need to spend to succeed, please forgive me for taking you even less seriously.

Everyone spent a decade imploring Arsenal to spend some Effing money. And now we’ve spent some and ended the dismal run of 7 years, 7 years, outside the UCL they’re still not happy.

There’s no pleasing some angry people.

  13. Aitcho

Oh look, Fart Fraud can wet himself over how much the clubs he supports above Arsenal spend on wages too.

“If only we were ambitious enough to double our wage bill too”.

It’s almost as if transfer fees were just one part of the equation. And we’re not taking into account the ‘shadow’ wages the oil clubs pay via 3rd parties. It’s almost as if people are paying homage to cheats because they hate Arsenal.

    A bit sad

  14. Aitcho

Wicksy, ever since that Newcastle game, I don’t even feel safe at 4 goals up.
    That was traumatic.

  15. Art Fraud

    You slags

Just remember, every time you go to the ‘Ems’ you are getting totally mugged off. Every fucking fortnight.

You are watching cack, whilst the other top sides supporters are watching what we witnessed last night for half the fuckin price.

Now go and buy some more overpriced tat from the club shop.

    Soppy pair of cunts
You have no ambition or bollox and thats why you rate this moronic cunt

  16. Aitcho

I’m watching a top of the table team in the UCL semis Fart. Do you know how many fans would love to be where I am right now?

We live in a democracy you old drunk, you don’t have to go. It’s probably best you don’t as you get upset when we win.

Every time I go to the Ems I get to hang out with reasonable people who share my support for the club. You’d be about as welcome as Squeaky Vera on a blog that wasn’t this one.

Some of the tat is quite cool, although some is perhaps a little young for me. P+f and NTS are firmly hipster class. Although I went to the adidas/NTS/Teamgeist launch during Euro24 and baffed a couple of very cool tops for free.

You’re bitter because you don’t have the style to carry it off. Stick to Next and Primark old man.

  17. Aitcho

Tell you what Fart, a mate has three tix and often has a spare. Next time you’re in London and there’s a game on, drop me a line and I’ll see if we can go together.

I’ll have fun watching you call the crowd all kinds of swear words for being there. But you’ll get a chance to see the gunners so a win/win.

Marc and his pretend friend might even join us with their pretend STs

  18. Hoopah.

Anyone who puts an individual , in this case that unworthy El Bast , over the Club as evident from myriad posts trying to to prop up that scarecrow
Yes , he definitely has caught the virus… Atishoo
