Klopp got a dose of his own medicine

I am not really a fan of Mikel’s animated behaviour at the touchline. Arsene Wenger ruined us all with his perfect fit suits and the red tie, and used to be the calm and composed figure on the touchline. Arteta on the other hand, is totally opposite to that. Micromanagement often ends with the shouting on the touchline and trying to control every aspect of the game from the manager box.

At times, it’s frustrating to watch that but it wasn’t last night. You know why? Because Klopp isn’t a messiah and he has done the same to us at Anfield. You get what you deserve.

Does this look familiar?

I am sure Jamie Carraghar loved it when we lost at Anfield and Klopp did it for 15 minutes. Though, he is having a mental breakdown on Twitter now because Arteta did the same and because Martin Odegaard, a 25 year old decided to click a picture of a staff who has supported the club before he was born. After a WIN. At HOME. As a COURTESY.

So, yeah. Both Jamie and Klopp can fuck off because what goes around comes around.

Right, just wanted to get that off my chest first. If you want to have a laugh, don’t forget to check you know who on Twitter.

3-1 against Liverpool is always a thing to celebrate. Even after a loss, they still top the table so it’s not like we are beating a 11th position Chelsea (lol).

The first half was our usual self. We started well, scored one and then missed a few. A messy own goal made it 1-1 and some of us thought it’s going to be the same old story where we are going to regret the missed chances and the goal we gave. However, Martinelli forced an error out of VVD and Alisson and Trossard came from the bench to score another one.

Win keeps us in the title race. City has played 2 less games and of course they will make life tough for everyone else. There’s going to be 15 very important weeks for our lads, and there will be slip ups. Aston Villa / Tottenham are going to create problem, Man United is picking up their form, West Ham / Brighton can win against any opposition on their day.

The winner is going to be decided by ‘who manages the least fuck ups’.

  1. I just worry about our Porto match after this father/son-like affair….there’s no way our mid-week opponent will be such gracious hosts

  2. Burnley’s been so pathetic that even some of their fans groaned when 10 minutes was announced

  3. the fact that Eddie is now the 4th option up top speaks volumes about his re-upping, especially considering the sizeable raise he received

  4. Chelsea played with a similar sense of purpose as in their last FA Cup match, then hung on for dear life…could be a crucial 2 points lost at home…I think they said that Poch hasn’t won a road affair against Pep since he was skippering Espanyol, which was his first coaching job…Haaland was in rare Jesus-like form today, as he missed two headers that he typically pots…Pep is going to shit once he gets a look at our game film and sees the piss-poor performance of his former captain’s side

  5. I used to detest Chelsea, but I was cheering them on last night. The shifting sands of football watching I guess. The fact that they’re completely harmless these days helps.

City, on the other hand, are like some newly diagnosed, very harmful bacteria. Plastic scummy outfit run by cunts who ought to be behind bars.

  6. KP GD will be a thing if Pool keep adding to their tally, so happy Burnley have their relegation seaside cases packed early this season.

They only turned up to go home.

TRVL I saw rumblings of Martinelli to Barca. I still think if EL B comes 2nd or wins the PL, he’ll be in Barca sights for who he’ll take with him: Saliba, Saka and Rice. If the Kroenkes’ get offered £300m or in the region of, will they stick or twist?

I think twist what do you guys think?

Last night thinking about the old LG days I got to thinking about our dear friend and comrade in arms: Almuniaisnomore. Hope you’re doing well and I think I can speak for us all degenerates including Ambarish that we miss your great input here in all things Goonerland and your sardonic twist only you can produce.

Would be cool to have you with us again. Almunia and get your take on things.

    You are missed …..

  7. On another note I think City has finally overused Pep’s tactics and have shown they can be scored against and drop points.

I see only Klopp standing between us and the title.

Burnley just couldn’t live with us anywhere on the pitch. Since the Win over the Scousers we have looked invincible in the same way as we did last season.

We maintain this form, we win the league and do well in the CL cup👀

Any slips and it’s 2nd or worse.

Can El B do it? No idea, but the squad can, so I’m backing the Squad and if we beat Porto in their back yard well midweek, I’ll dare to dream…….

Arteta has an incredible ability to fuck things up and we have some very tough fixtures left in the PL, Chelsea (H), City (A), Spuddies (A), ManU (A) on top of those we also have Newcastle (H), Brighton (A), Villa (H) and Everton at home for the last game of the season Everton may be shit but they could still be fighting for survival.

Its going to be a really tough run in.

  9. This season we changed our emphasis to become defensively sound, this came at the expense of attacking fluidity. It’s taken a while but tactically we are so tight now. We’ve already beaten Man City and Liverpool this season, drew at Anfield, so who’s to say we can’t go to the Etihad and get something.

Marc, your comment is a very strange one in view of how the team is transforming under Arteta. Sometimes you have to give credit but if you can’t do that after our recent run you probably never will mate.

  10. Hi Islington,

    Welcome to LiR mate.

I agree that recent form is startlingly good and the record books confirm that with 5 straight wins, we’re in pole position to win the memorial Arsene Wenger calendar cup challenge! The attacking play, ability to finish moves and the way we look impregnable since losing to the bin dippers in the FA Cup is something we’re all happy about. Nobody’s having any off days out there – the optimist in me is even starting to see the value of Havertz.

It contrasts sharply with the December form. The reasons are hard to fathom. Is it because – gulp – Jesus is not featuring? And we’re seeing less of Eddie Unket? Or have the boys rediscovered passing speed and better movement as per last season? The CP and Forest wins were welcome and deserved but the switch really seems to have clicked after beating Liverpool. It also appears to me that the front 5 are just that bit more composed in front of goal, and that shots are being taken with heads down and over the ball rather than looking upwards. It’s all very welcome of course but let’s get a few games further forward to see where we are. Cynical anti-arteta-ites like Marc and I and many of the others on here will ‘party like it’s 1999’ if the players do manage to pull it off. I think many of us on here are still reeling, not just from the pain of last season but probably as far back as the late Wenger era. You’re possibly in the same boat.

We’d all be utter babies if we believed this fantastic run was going to continue… Nevertheless, we’re pretty well placed. Anyhow, you’re right, we should be pleased. It’s just that history isn’t on our side and not many of us are convinced by Arteta.

There are 1989 style vibes at play. 19/20 year absence of winning a title. Not hugely fancied to win… But at least back then we had a manager we were all able to support.
