The performance was meh and not only from our highly anticipated signing Victor G. The back line looked shaky, midfield didn’t control the game like we do, and the front 3 was so poor Mikel had to sub the striker and the LW in the 60th minute. Havertz was on the pitch in place of the Gyokeres and Madueke got his first game in Arsenal shirt.
There was nothing positive to take away from the game except those 3 sweet points and a clean sheet. Raya was superb and did some brilliant saves to keep us in the game. The United fans were furious for the goal they conceded, counting as a blatant foul and obstruction, but they ignored the same thing happening at the other end when Raya was surrounded but he made it to look like an easy one by punching the ball away comfortably.
I get it, the first game of the season, away from home at Old Trafford, it’s always going to be difficult. Plus, the new signings from them in Cunha and Mbuemo were ridiculously good – so good that they both contributed an equal amount of shots on target that we managed as a team, which made it worse for us. We lacked cohesiveness in the midfield and Zubimendi will take some time to deliver what Partey used too. Our captain was poor, Saka was not at his best, Martinelli had to be subbed, White wasn’t having a good day and Saliba looked shaky as well.

News of the hour is that Kai Havertz has picked up a knee injury and it looks to be pretty bad. There’s no official club announcement yet Ornstein has reported it and he is usually right about Arsenal. He also said that we are now looking to address the Havertz’s unavailability by going back into the market. I don’t understand why we are after replacing a back up player but not my circus, not my monkey.
There’s another one of its kind development around Trossard. We have renewed his wages but not the contract. I don’t know who comes up with these kinds of ideas because we are talking about a player who we should have sold this summer to raise money. Now, it’s even more difficult to sell him because he earns more per week. It can mean two things though – either our LW reinforcement is over or we are going to sell Martinelli and didn’t want to have 3 new faces and the left wing. Still about 10 days to go, so we will know.
There’s another breaking news from some journos – Mikel was seen switching Saka and Madueke on the wings in training. I doubt he is going to play the best right winger in the world, out of his position. It could just be a tactic for more flexibility in the game where the wingers switch positions to create more chaos. Usually, Saka is surrounded by defenders and switching him to the LW can cause confusion to the opponents.

Right, that’s all for today. We have a game coming up this Saturday and I will be back before then.

Worst signing by far, this moronic cunt as a player after getting thrashed by Manchester United
If you actually work the sums out it has cost about £10 million + £900 million he has spunked up the wall.
Wenger and Graham both bought some cack , partly because they both stayed far too long and lost their edge
We fucking always keep our mangers too long.
Real Madrid don’t.
Bayern Munch dont.
Win of fuck off, should be the mindset.
Exactly what Abramowich did at Chelsea and they won everything as well beacuse of it.
Notice he leaves they are spending more and winning less.
Watching the highlights last night, Chelsea have fucked us again. Madueke is not even a distant memory.
We give them £50 million for Madueke and they have some serious Brazilian young talent coming through.
Only this moronic cunt in charge , simply can’t see everytime you give those slags money, they will buy better.
Thats my hit of dooooooom today.

All good shouts to replace MA.
I’m going to have to agree with TRVL and Marc re the players’ levels, as we really do have a very good starting point for a new manager. We all wanted what Pool have bought, you can add Reijnders and Isak to the elite or budding elite (Ekitike) list we should have had knocking on our Emirates door or at least Bertha & Lewes pursuing.
All we can do AF is hope MA falls on his ‘Rice at 8’ sword, as I don’t think Rice or Ode can unlock VG playing last season’s and the season’s before football/tactics.
The Chavs made a statement last night so I’m sure Pep will want to add City’s claim in a few hours against Spuds. Should be an interesting game City should dominate with a heavy goal tally.
For the neutral Palace v Forest will be a good game with Palace sans Eze.
Manure and Fulham? no idea how to call that one.
I think the spiciest game this weekend is Newcastle against Pool. The Isak saga has rightly got the Bar Code’s player’s rattled with Pool.
Could be a red card in that game.
Finally, what of us against Leeds? When I think Leedes I aways see Billy Bremner’s feistiness, and Peter Lorimer’s bullet speed shots. I don’t know much about Leeds so I’ll wait to see what TRVL thinks.
On paper and being at home I’ll be positive and say a 3:0 win for us and hope Eze gets some minutes with Havertz injured.
Marc
Hope you enjoy your first game back in what? 10 months? It will be great to get your thoughts from the Emirates again.
We’ve said before elite players don’t want MA, which I think suits KSE or did suit KSE playing the keep-the-investment-ticking-over games they played since buying the club.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the ‘Bertha affect’ has on the club and MA.
If I were a new manager arriving apres MA, I’d be a happy Chappy because we have a very settled back four, with decent back ups for each position, 2 quality DMs, and some serious midfield & attacking talent.
If the said new manager was given a £250m war chest, he could find the right elite players to create a team who can challenge on all fronts and occasionally win the PL and CL trophies over the next decade.

Very valid points where certainly I agree with your thinking, and I’m sure others here do, too.
Simply because there are a lot of huge life changes going on in mine and junior’s life right now, we are very preoccupied with, we have an excellent positive mindset for the future with the decisions we have made, and the chosen location to live.
I don’t want our love for our club to bring that mood down, so although I’ll always be honest with my season’s comments, I’m erring on the more positive side that hopefully culminates in Bertha calling a taxi for MA from the Emirates, somewhere around early December.
I would go as far as to venture that that latter outcome would give you a happy Xmas, too, and a great New Year to look forward to with the rest of us………

I was talking about Willian. He had Mikel’s tape for sure, benching Martinelli for a non-existent performance games after games.
Willian got what he wanted – a pay off as well of getting El B out of his hair. Amazing how he sparked back to life.
On the Havertz being the worst signing – it was the fee £60 million plus the £300k per week when we had no idea where we really wanted him to play – supposedly brought in as a replacement for Xhaka but we also bought Rice that summer when we already had Partey and Ode in midfield. There’s no way he was bought as a striking option that only happened when Jesus got permanently injured. No fucking plan whatsoever.
Ozil is a mixed bag signing – he was a statement signing that the club hadn’t made for a long time we also won 3 FA Cups after signing him. He went massively off the rails and the salary increase was crazy.
NORG
I think it was the late term pregnancy that did for Willian plus the season-long gestation period. He evidently was also a bad signing but loans don’t count.
If they did, Kallstrom would certainly be on the shortlist of contenders.
Marc
You suggest Ozil was a mixed bag signing. Id suggest it was a ballbag signing, designed by the then psychotic Wengo to deflect from his own evident shortcomings and install a new scapegoat for the club’s slow and painful decline. I have to say I hated the team around that time. I remember watching them play at the nearby Liberty Stadium in Swansea at the time. Ozil set Monreal up for an early goal and then the entire team switched off and lost 3-1. Fucking dismal. And they had this bizarre purple and black kit on. I was thoroughly embarrassed.
Ozil? Nozil!
Kroenke
I’m not saying he was a good signing – I don’t think Wenger had much input into signing him I think Ozil was all Gazidis.
Havertz as well as costing a stupid amount of money came in with a reputation where Chelsea fans would say he’ll have 1 match where he’s unplayable then 9 where he’s anonymous so we bought a PL ready player who could be expected to have 4 really good matches a season. And then we stuck him up top.
Personally I’d be happy to hear the club had put a rule in place banning all signings from Chelsea.
Matchday post is live.
