Season ends today

Season ends today

Well, today’s the final act of Premier League season 2024-25. Everyone gets to play today at 4 PM BST and though there’s nothing left for us, it’s going to be an exciting day for some others.

First half of the table is quite interesting. Liverpool has won the league, we have qualified for Champions League and irrespective of what happens today, we will finish second (again). As there are 5 teams eligible to play in Champions League next season, the other 3 spots are to be contested on the last day. Man City plays Fulham away, Newcastle will host Everton at home, Chelsea and Forest fight each other while Aston Villa visits Old Trafford to play one of the worst Man Utd teams in history.

Looks saucy and could turn out to be better if Everton does the unthinkable.

There’s not much to talk about for the second half of the table. The bottom 3 teams were so poor that the relegation battle ended months ago, and only if one of them could have been a bit better, we could have seen a miracle of Spurs playing in Champions League while getting relegated, all at the same time.

Arsenal game against Southampton has little to no consequence. If we lose, we shrug it off, and will forget about it before the next season begins. If we win, we finish the season at 74 points, and that would change fuck all. So, what should we do today? I don’t know but please do not play Havertz. If he scores, we know Mikel will not buy a CF and we will finish second again next season.

There has been some chatter about Arsenal looking for Sesko. Frankly, I have not seen much of him, but I do have seen Gyokeres play a couple of times and I would rather pick the later. He has put down his papers at Sporting, and has some unbelievable stats this season with 39 goals and 7 assists in 33 games. He is 26, young enough to be considered on the positive side of age and old enough for the experience. Also, it’s not a one season wonder because he scored 29 goals and 10 assists in 2023-24 and had 6 goals in 8 games in Champions League.

There has also been some rumours regarding Mikel wanting to sell Martinelli. It’s not going to happen, Mikel wants him and plays him every time because he has the ability to engage couple of defenders, pulling them away from the box which allows the likes of Saka, Merino, Odegaard to play the game on the right. I hate it and would rather want some freedom for Martinelli but we have seen how rigid his game is, and it’s not because he likes it. Martinelli is not going anywhere, and considering that we will sell him at 40m, spend 80m to get a cheap copy of him, it’s the right decision. If you want to bring a LW, Trossard should be replaced. He has lost that knack of scoring lately and is just growing older.

Zubimendi is done deal. Arsenal is also looking to give Thomas Partey a contract. Look, it’s not a bad decision at all. Jorginho will leave, and Declan Rice is going to play the advance role like he did this season. We will again be playing 2 games a week for a better part of the season and with Thomas, you don’t have to worry about anything. He is adjusted to the system, probably one of the best DMs in premier league and to get a fraction of what he offers, we will have to shell money. I don’t want to see another 30m on a understudy (Sambi, Tavares?) which restricts us to reinforce other area of the pitch. A CF is must, an LW is needed, an Odegaard upgrade is needed and with Tierney, Zinchenko, Kiwior(?) leaving, we would need a LB because Calafiori is injury prone and MLS is too young to be starting twice a weak.

Right, that’s me done. I am going to wear my ‘hate watch’ hat and celebrate one of the Man City or Newcastle losing out the Champions League spot.

Who would you prefer?

Almunia—whereas I won’t go as far as to suggest that MA would actually make a move for DCL, due in large part to his horrendous injury history, I can see him settling for someone like Delap, who’s at best a 1 year wonder, albeit I think he has potential, or Vlhavoic, as he’s on the outs at Juve and they’re presently pursuing Viktor too, or even David, who’s on a free, because they’re all cheaper options and none can command assurances about being the presumptive starter…I can totally picture our underwhelming fuckstick of a manager going after someone who would still enable him to start Havertz up top, then he would simply sign a left-sided forward so as to give the impression that he’s redressed our offensive deficiencies…let’s not forget Berta signed Morata on multiple occasions, along with a whole host of other veteran Strikers who were on their respective last legs

Morita, now there’s another scary thought. He’s on the wind down now in Turkey so we should be safe enough. Vlahovic isn’t a bad shout, was very much on the radar a while back. I guess the reality is it doesn’t really matter,no striker is going to flourish under Arteta ball. In time this era in the premiership will be viewed as one of the bleakest for English football and the blame will be put on Pep. How unlucky were we that we got his vastly inferior sidekick? Bums on seats were replaced by bums on the pitches.

Almunia—I certainly wasn’t suggesting that the players I mentioned were shite, just not the kind of needle moving talisman-types this stagnant project desperately requires…as I’ve said all along we need those who can win in spite of the manager…Delap has proven nothing, so he will be little more than a Havertz cover piece, Vlahovic has struggled under a very similar defence-first narrative at Juve(10 goals in 2 of the last 3 seasons)and David makes more sense as a false 9 or within a two Striker formation, as he’s more of a Laca-esque player…been there, done that…whereas Isak would force MA into having a tactical rethink or risk facing the wrath of the fanbase…well at least from those who know what this player has on offer if we opened things up

btw I would likewise view Watkins as a half-measure option…if you were unwilling to go anywhere near Villa’s 60M valuation in January, you can’t claim otherwise now, especially after the way he performed rather poorly in the run-up…Cheers

big ups to Henry for publicly questioning our lack of silverware, MA’s bizarro world roster construction issues and our gluttony of hamstring issues…of course the broken record Artetite fucktards, like those on LG, will undoubtedly find a way to blame the messenger…par for the course for the blunt instrument gang

tears in Bergamo as Gasparini departs from Atalanta. I doubt he would leave Italy but he would be a breath of fresh air at N5.

Thierry Henry is correct to question Arteta’s record at Arsenal, especially in the cup competitions where we have been beaten 4 times in semi finals against PSG, VIILLAREAL, LIVERPOOL, NEWCASTLE…all very good well managed sides but it’s fair to say that we didn’t exactly cover ourselves in glory in any of those semis , I don’t think there can be any excuses.
Compare that to Arsene Wenger’s last period at Arsenal for which he was slaughtered by the minority (but loud) group of Arsenal “fans” in which he reached 5 cup finals in his last 6 years at the club. Wenger knew how to approach a semi final that’s for sure, maybe Arteta needs to take a few lessons from wenger on how to succeed in the big games.
The problem Arteta has now is that the more big games his team loses and the more he falls short in the league the more the pressure will build on the players to win a trophy.
If Arteta fails to win a trophy next season, as I have said before he should leave the club as 6 years is more than long enough to deliver.
At least when Wenger had his barren spell he had a lot of credit in the bank with 3 league titles , 4 fa cups , 2 doubles and the invincible season , plus wenger had little or no money to invest in players whilst city and Chelsea had a bottomless pit of cash to spend on players.
Arteta has had money and his buys have probably a 50/50 success rate with Gabriel, Partey , Rice , Timber, Havertz , white and Raya being the pick of the bunch, with a number of others failing to make an impression.
So , Henry questioning Arteta is not a bad thing , he wasn’t overly critical , he was just stating the truth that Arteta has fallen short at important points in the season and that is the area he needs to overcome to be regarded as a top manager, I’d like to think that next season we will see a completely different Arsenal team to this season , an Arsenal team that dominates games and doesn’t allow the opposition back into games as has happened so many times this season, I believe the league will be a tight affair next season with many sides in contention and a much lower winning points total than recent seasons .

  7. Almunia,

Date and Time is sorted in comment section. Still trying to add the no. of comment in homepage for each post, broke the website couple of times – but is doable. Hopefully in next couple of days.

Well done Henry for calling this cunt out and all his bollocks
And he was damning of the cunts injury record as well.

Of course the hyenas are out in force and attack probably the best player to play for the club for his honesty and his opinion and side with their losing nobody Everton cone man cunt.

No surprise , because they are are clueless cunts as well.
And thats why we win fuck all , fuck all in Europe and Chelsea for example or Man Utd win , even they are shit.

Well I have news for these clueless cunts, Man Utd and Chelsea won’t be shit forever.

Watch out for an article ina day about these useless cunts, already in progress..

    Ambarish

I sometimes worry , that I am not corrupting a very nice young and talented man like yourself with all my expletives.

But then again , this manager is a bullshiting cunt.

I look forward as ever to reading it.

AF—Cunty Cunterson can’t seem to lure anyone of consequence here so it wouldn’t shock me whatsoever if he paid an arm and a leg to play Sane on his wrong side…furthermore, why would anyone pay 100M for Rodrygo but not 125M for Isak, as the latter actually fits our most pressing needs brief

for me there’s only 2 proven Strikers who will force MA into a tactical rethink and that’s Isak and Osimhen…as for Viktor Gyokeres, I have a few serious concerns: (1) the league he plays in is shite, so I wonder if his numbers will translate here, (2) 20 of his tallies were from the spot and (3) he’s as bad as our German Giraffe when it comes to headers…I do like Sesko’s potential up-side, but if I had to hazard a guess, I think MA’s affinity for him has more to do with his own job security moving forward than allowing him to cook in a more offensive-friendly scheme

Even a blind man can see Arteta is under pressure from various comments made in the press by reporters and pundits. Has he got the ability to screw up the sheet containing his system and build in new ideas – if he had surely he would have used them by now. Depending on the close season purchases we could see a very frustrated figure on the touchline next season.

  13. Marc

    Norg

The media and pundits are cowards and will always follow the group think narrative rather than putting forward an opinion that might go against it.

On the positive side this means once the narrative changes they’ll be all over Arteta like a rash and we all know how well Arteta responds to pressure.

  14. Ambarish K

Why in the actual fuck are we going for Sesko when Gyokeres is available? Because he costs 40m more?

I mean I can see Gyokeres has scored like a goal a game, and frankly I have never seen Sesko play, but if it turns out to be another Havertz, Arteta should get all the hate.

  15. Ambarish K

    Art F

If Arteta win a PL/CL trophy, I would eat the humble pie. He hasn’t done it yet, after spending 800m+ GBP, so I’m as frustrated as you, if not more. Every word of TH14 was precise and actual, and those who worship Arteta probably loves being second.

  16. The Real Vieira Lynn

Ambarish—it’s far more likely that Viktor might be a Havertz 2.0 than Sesko, who has pace, is two-footed and can shoot from distance…see above regardng my concerns about Gyorekes…even so, the only two readymade Strikers are Isak and Osimhen

  17. The Real Vieira Lynn

keeping in mind I would take all of them in a fucking heartbeat over Havertz…of course, it’s important to note that Kai represents an incredibly low bar

  18. The Real Vieira Lynn

Let’s just hope that if Sesko is the chosen Striker he stuck to his guns regarding getting assurances about him being the starter over Havertz…if not, next year could look a lot like this one

  19. Kroenkephobe

Can I henceforth suggest that ‘Everton Cone Man Cunt’ now replaces ‘Señor Stubborn el Bastardo’ ™ as LiR’s officially approved moniker ?

Nice one AF! I’m going out this morning to speak to my stockbroker about buying up all available Everton Cones shares.

  20. NORG

Unaware of the protocol for electing a new Pope El B put his name forward for the position. He would be known as ‘His Cuntiness’.
