Points to prove, Emery v Arteta

Points to prove, Emery v Arteta

We have suddenly discovered a new rivals in Aston Villa since Emi Martinez opened his mouth, and Emery returned to Premier League to manage them. It’s one of the game where the emotions will be high, and there is a lot to prove from both the sides and managers.

Emery first, he loves to be the underdog and bully the big guys, and that bitterness of being sacked from the position of Arsenal manager must still be in his mind. He would be out their to prove a point. Arteta on the other hand, has lost 2 games, drew another one in last 3, and have lost the top of the league position to Man City. Confidence is on the low and he would be more than eager to get back on winning tracks. A loss today would derail the title ambitions and put immense criticism and pressure on the players and the manager.

Team sheet is out, and we have Trossard starting his first premier league game for Arsenal in place of Martinelli. I will have to agree with it now, Martinelli needs a rest and Trossard has done well coming off the benches since joining us. Ben White is back at RB and there is no Partey again. A midfield of Jorginho and Xhaka do not give me confidence but Jorginho has an okay-ish game against City, today we can judge him better whether the gamble we have taken will pay off for the remainder of the season. We have a good news in Emile, he has made the bench and we need him. Reiss Nelson is back too, but his contract situation is very confusing, I don’t see any point in giving him any game time if he do not sign. If we are in a winning position, I would also love to see some of the Kiwior in later half of the game.

Here’s the team :

Line up looks good to me, we should, on an ideal day, get away with a win. However, things aren’t going so great and I hope the team shows up which beat Liverpool, United and Spu*s.

Right, short one today. It’s Saturday evening, sun is still visible and I am off to a place where they are playing it on a big screen. Hopefully I will return back happier and top of the league where we belong.

  1. Ambarish I hope you’re right.

I feel Tomi is better than White with his link ups with Saka.

Xhaka and Jorginho? My feelings are well known about these 2. Trossard isn’t as good as Martinelli when Xhaka stops forcing Martinelli wide.

Just hope for 3 points is all I can say right now.

  2. Kroenkephobe

I’m far from being a ‘dedicated follower of fashion’ but that shit brown gilet of Emery’s will never catch on.

  3. Divyanshu Karan

    Fuck…very early n easily…what are you doing guys…. please

  4. Fuck me, Zinchenko losing ball and we are already behind within 6 minutes..

  5. Ambarish where was Xhaka and Jorginho for the goal?

Arteta is the problem not the players.

  6. How the fuck Nketiah can miss that? Even if it’s offside.

  7. Tony,

I don’t know. No body bloody knows. Let the midfield do the job of linking, not the defense. Why is Zinchenko playing in #10 position, I have no idea too.

  8. Magnificent from Saka. What a brilliant goal. We are back in game boys.

  9. Divyanshu Karan

    Yes…back in-game

  10. Kroenkephobe

    Now that was a goal…

  11. Sorry Ambarish I’m angry with Arteta didn’t mean to be sharp with you.

  12. I’m equally frustrated seeing Gabriel in Odegaard’s position, trying to find a line to pass to Saka. What if we lost the ball there?

  13. Kroenkephobe

You could see that coming. No shape. Front three’s press beaten easily no response. Terrible goal.

  14. Saliba holding Luiz by neck, Saka getting angry and pushing players away, this is a crazy match already.

  15. We need a big 2nd half with a couple of goals to secure the points.

Of the 2 Jorginho is better than Xhaka and could work well with Partey.

Our attacks are all left sided because Trossard isn’t a winger.

Xhaka is a liability where ever he is on the pitch.

The most stupid thing about this is Ten Hag would be beating Villa with our squad.

Arteta is a one trick pony.

  16. Much better levels this half. Terrible miss by Eddie.

We’re looking more likely to win.

  17. Hoopah.

Some Arsenal players showing some love to Emery?
Martinez has regressed. His distribution is patchy. Overconfidence after moving to a Club below his standards

  18. Kroenkephobe

    Perfect fucking goal

  19. Said I preferred Jorginho to Xhaka. Once Xhaka was subbed I said to Junior we’ll win now.

Great 2nd half well deserved lead.

  20. Hoopah.

Own headed goal by Emi Martinez.
    LoL

  21. Kroenkephobe

    Emiliano – que cabesazo boludo

  22. Kroenkephobe

    4-2. Hilarious

There’s some brummie cunt in the holte end with head in hands saying, ‘I can’t stand Emery’ s playground football a minute longer ‘. Own goal by Martinez – pure joy.

And Cardiff beat Reading last night in injury time.

  24. Even at his age and speed, Jorginho’s mobility is more balanced and his game is far tidier than Xhaka.

We can afford to cover for Jorginho in a loose role because he’s a much bigger threat than Xhaka has ever been. Partey can give Jorginho the freedom to be like a false10 behind Ode pushing Ode higher up the field. Jorginho is better dropping back to 6 than Ode is and is cleaner in the tackle.

Sorry to be a bore but Jorginho relegates Xhaka to the bench now where hopefully a fit ESR will get into the midfield mix.

I have faith in the players – always have had even in Emery’s first season. Now we have a squad that is more than capable this season if Arteta doesn’t blow it like last season.

Next season will be far tougher to win the league.

Hopefully, Xhaka has started his last PL game today.

  25. Good weekend for you then K’phobe.

Love Forest to get something from City going to be a tough run in and our first title pressure cooker for 19 years.

    Hope all’s well.

  26. At least Partey wasn’t rushed back, so Arteta is learning something.

Given where we were coming into the game, Villa away was the perfect fixture really. A team with ideas above its station, a coach who preaches chaotic football, and a club with an inferiority complex trying to compete with bigger boys. This isn’t the cure all but there’s certainly some positive symbolism in this victory. Dumber beat Dumb.

    Hi Tony and Junior
All good mate. I hope you two enjoyed that, at least the last few minutes. I hope your cut is getting better and the stitches are out Junior. Has your Kone dancing finished for now?

All good in wild Wales. No rugby to cause any extra heartbreaks. I’m going to watch the Toffees against Leeds – it’s funny how you get a burst of enthusiasm after a win!!!

  29. Hi K’phobe
Started to really enjoy the when Xhaka was subbed.

The Kone dance was just a one evening show. I asked Ambarish to send you a few pics of Junior in full flow on the vast stage. If that’s ok with you.

All stitches are out now or dissolved so Junior is feeling better movement in his hand. He’s got finals in 2 weeks so mad at his work.

    Enjoy the Leeds game.

  30. The Real Vieira Lynn

survived some squeaky bum times, but this should have been a 3 point result no matter as this Villa team was the poorest defensive unit we’ve faced all season…like you, Tony, there’s nothing I enjoy quite as much as seeing Xhaka going off the pitch, but if we don’t become considerably more clinical in front of goal there will be some tough times ahead…here’s hoping that when Partey returns MA will try Trossard in Xhaka’s spot with Marts out wide, but I’m certainly not holding my breath…fun game to watch though, if you were a neutral observer

  31. Happy days city drawing with about 10 minutes to go.

  32. The Real Vieira Lynn

such a game of fine margins, considering Ramsdale’s save on Bailey, that hit off the bar, and Jorginho’s strike that turned into a rather fortuitous own goal…I’m not quite sure what positives to take from this affair, minus the obvious, as I feel like we could have been undone if Villa had the horses to play in the 2nd half the way they had in the first…of course, things would have been really dicey around the club if we had been held to a single point, as that would have meant that we had only secured 2 of a possible 12 points in our last 4 matches…so I guess everyone can briefly exhale, if nothing else, then get back on the training ground and practice our GD shooting LOL

  33. City dropping 2 points today typifies their bland form robotic football where De Bruyne had an off day at the office.

Ambarish I’ll have to let some of your positive sauce soak in. You called it right today and us staying in the title race.

    🙏🙏

    Ambarish

Great little pre-game piece. And timed to perfection (although I reckon you were a last minute guy when you were submitting your work at school and university – nothing wrong with that of course! 😅) I agree with Tony that you’re now the master prognosticator or so I’m handing over to you. I was thinking it’d be a narrow 1-nil to us, but I’d rather forgotten about Emery and his chronic defence-o-phobia. It felt like the game was open right from the off with both teams taking it to the other.

The Emi-carom was wonderful, made better by the fact that it hit his forehead rather than the back of it. That’ll stay in the memory for a while – although it would have been even better if Jorginho had got in his face after scoring and mimicked that trophy-fucking gesture Emi pulled off (fnarr fnarr) at the WC.

City, Chelsea, BHA and the barcodes imploding. And all my other teams won this weekend.

  35. Kroenkephobe

I’d forgotten Forest Gump (aka Tom Wanks) was in the crowd today. Well, by 2. 45, I think that wooden bullshit actor had to conclude that, like life, football us not a bowl cherries. 🍒🍒🍒

  36. Kroenkephobe

Check Emery’s interview on match of the day. He’s clearly furious with Martinez for going up for that corner before the 4th goal.
