Outrageous Refereeing costs us three points!

Everything against City was wrong for us, except the football. It was a sensational play from men in red and white, we were 1-0 up and looked comfortable before referees decided to rob us.

A penalty was awarded which was, imo, a 50-50. Earlier challenge on Odegaard was in fact a better call for Penalty which referee not only ignored but also decided NOT to refer to VAR.

Then we saw Martinelli missing out a rebound, which could have given us 2-1 lead; was it a miss though? What was the official doing in the final third of pitch, not only blocking his view but robbing him of that extra half second to react and burry it?

And the third one… Why was Gabriel given the first yellow? And the second yellow? We went down to 10 men and tried to hold the fort but then it was only matter of time when you play against the best team in Premier League with 10 men!

But…

What a sensational first half it was from us. Partey was immense, controlled that midfield like no one else could. Saka buried it from a pass from Tierney and celebrated among fans. It was a goosebump scenario. We went 1-0 up in half time, in total control of the game.

Even with 10 men, we didn’t let them dominate us. An extra time goal cost us match and important 3 points but it’s not on the players. It’s not on the tactics.

Some fans on twitter were furious with Gabriel clapping sarcastically to fourth official after the red card, but I don’t see a problem with it. Match officials needs to be made accountable and if there’s no way it can be done, I’m okay with players doing it.

I’ve been Arteta Out from some time but yesterday I was proved wrong. We came out on top against one of the best teams even if we lost (rather robbed). In next 6 months, we are going to be a team to watch. Top 4 race is still open and should be a priority this season. Champions League not only brings extra revenue but can attract talents who look for European football.

We are just short of a CM and a striker to have a full fledged, full of character, winning team. I’m sure it will be addressed in coming days. Put your seatbelts; we are into a drive and a good one!

I’m positive. A belated happy new year and I promise again I will be actively writing this year 🙂
