North London Derby – postpone everything for tomorrow

North London Derby – postpone everything for tomorrow

When any two clubs are level on points after 5 games and are going to play each other, it’s already a rivalry. However, if the two clubs happens to be the Arsenal and Spuds, it’s not rivalry but a WAR. North London Derby is here, on a British Sunday Afternoon, at Emirates. If you have got any plans, I would rather suggest to forget about it and restock your refrigerator. Waitrose opens at 10 am on Sunday and 4 hours are sufficient to sort out any scarcity.

Arsenal v Tottenham is one of the biggest game of this season. The result will affect both the teams, for one is trying to compete for the title and the other one is trying to show the world they, still, are a part of the top 6. A win today will move us ahead of our arch rivals and closer to Manchester City. A win today will keep our confidence high. And for the fans, a win today will mean the world.

Right, that’s a lot of emotion from me on a Sunday morning. Lets get back to the facts.

In the team news, I doubt Martinelli will be available for today. Even if he makes it, I don’t think Arteta will risk him with games coming thick and fast, and when we have a back up in Trossard who is doing exceptionally well for whatever chances he is getting. Raya is probably gonna get the start ahead of Ramsdale again today and the back 4 will remain same. It would be interesting to see whom Mikel prefers in the midfield alongside Declan Rice. Will it be his favorite Havertz, or the in-form Vieira? I would personally go with Vieira, never replace a confident player unless he needs resting.

We need Gabriel Jesus up top and we need him to do the famous Henry slide in the corner after his hattrick today. Saka has been phenomenal until now and I don’t have to guess that he will only improve his performance. He is already excited for the game, and has to say this when asked about the game.

I’m really excited. It’s a massive advantage. Personally, the feeling I have every time I play at the Emirates is that we’re going to win and the people are behind us. The support that the fans give us, not allowing us to lose, gives us that extra confidence boost.

Well, here’s the bitter pill. It’s not going to be easy. Spuds are having a new manager bounce and though they don’t have the usual scorer against Arsenal in Harry Kane, they are playing better than their own standards. Derbys are more emotion than the talent, and we must make sure we keep our emotions in check, score 3 by the half time and not let them have any chances. We need to be solid defensively, whoever plays at CF need to make most of the chances he gets and we must keep them pressed for the whole game. We must also be careful about the goals we concede in the first few minutes of the games; no lapse in concentration will be accepted.

Right, there’s not much for today except the excitement. We have beaten them in both of our games last season, and I hope we do the third on them today. Convincingly.

I will see you during the match.

  1. Morning all
Game day away to Bournemouth. This should be a 3 pointer for us by a few goals. Really not a lot to write about because we are getting by and not pulling up trees.
    .
Busy week for me so see you at the game lads.

Because of injuries to our attacking players, Guns of Hackney comment on LG made me laugh.
“Bournemouth have this in the bag. Arsenal’s frontline is weaker than France’s at the Somme”.

I haven’t been on LG for god knows how long – is dickhead still producing world record levels of excuses for Arteta?

  4. Kroenkephobe

3 nil away win today. Bournemouth don’t have enough skill, bite nor energy to win games like this. Non league local footy for me this afternoon. Haverfordwest County v Aberystwyth (which ought to be easy for me to say…).

Don’t know if I want a draw or away win in that spuds-bindippers game.

Dickhead has at least 6 monikers who he has interacting on his main posts and keeping the dissidence at a low. It’s all petty and playground stuff mixed with a few decent posters.
    .
Pedro has nailed his colours to the Arteta mast for his KSE maters. I don’t blame anyone for making a living, but when your living means you have to belittle and troll your posters to bend to your will where some of them will be foolish to pay for such tripe, then I feel it’s pathetic and very school playground.

Wow! Just clocked the Villa v Brighton score. Lookingb at the stats Brighton look well off the pace. The 2nd half should be a cracker. De Zerbi is currently under the RM microscope who have made their interest known in the public arena.
    .
Wouldn’t mind betting that ends up 3:3 that doesn’t mean anyone should bet!
    .
Hoping for Palace to get result at Manure. The bar codes should get all 3 home points v Burnley. City to beat Wolves away.
    .
Finally, a pulsating 2:2 Pool vs Spuds late game.
    .
Haverfordwest County v Aber-yst-wyth (it’s sounds like aberwistwith) I’ve been there but can’t remember why, KP?

So good people of LiR please answer me a question. I haven’t seen the match in question only the result so can’t comment on any particular circumstances but:

Brighton are a good team with a good manager, Villa have a terrible manager (so I’ve been told) so what’s more likely us scoring 6 goals against Brighton (across 2 or 3 matches let alone 1) or Villa beating us at least once this season?

  7. Marc

So after a single season the generational one who was responsible for all of the CIty players improvements when he was there has binned off the keeper he bought to replace one who won the world cup a little later.

  8. The Real Vieira Lynn

getting yellows might be the only way Havertz can find his way on the stats sheet…what a waste of space

  9. The Real Vieira Lynn

Eddie’s like a drunk Andy Cole in and around the box

  10. The Real Vieira Lynn

that’s Eddie’s best bet to contribute

  11. 2:0 is about right for the first half. Credit to B’mouth for not parking the bus although they might have to in the 2nd half. Havertz and Eddie the week links even though Eddie got the penalty. An Arsenal CF needs to be doing more against such a poor side.
    .
That’s my take for what it’s worth.
    .
Meanwhile some great HT scores to saviour. City and Palace losing will be excellent if it remains that way with both clubs dropping points.
    .
No way we drop points in this game and we should beat Lens mid week. That just leaves City to beat at the weekend for the trifecta.

  12. The Real Vieira Lynn

few nicely weighted passes by Ode and some decent passing in our end, but still nothing in this performance to write home about…don’t get me wrong, I’m a big admirer of Rice, but it feels like we’re morphing into his former club from an offensive output standpoint…here’s hoping that we can change that narrative in the second half and finish with a handful of goals

  13. The Real Vieira Lynn

silver platter affair…pathetic on two accounts, one to give it to Havertz, who can’t produce jackshit on his own, and, secondly, the very fact that even before the penalty was taken MA already had Tomi getting prepared to deploy our usual defensive shell

Eddie’s an embarassing player for flopping like that in a 3-0 match

don’t get it twisted though, I’m all for us getting an easy 3 points

  14. Hoopah

Tomiyasu and Smith Rowe come in with strict instructions for a masterclass pointless passing game aka possession football
But it looks so pointless even though it looks City during intervals. However City can see an opportunity and dart forward. This is lost on Fraudteta

  15. The Real Vieira Lynn

Hoopah-I was about to say likewise, especially when we’re playing against a League One side and we’ve only potted one goal from open play…then when I was about to post it White scored that header…we should have 5 or 6 against this lifeless opponent

  16. Hoopah

After a couple of misses the lemmings at the Groveling Place will pontificate about how right Arteta was not to start ESR ,…he is not ready , Odegard would bury those. A-les don’t realise that the misses were due to lack of sharpness due to prolonged hibernation of the lad who got a few minutes ,whereas Odegard has a hundred hours to sharpen up.
Then the unsubstituted he is injured, will get injured , and such other excuses by the lapdog media

  17. Hoopah

    RVLN
Absolutely. Bournemouth have been a most abysmal side we have played against.
We made it a struggle to start the first goal .

  18. Good to see City and Manure drop 3 points each.
    .
Will make our City game next week all the spicier😎

  19. Marc

What a crazy day’s worth of results.

Hoopah – there was an article in the DT the morning of the League Cup game stating that ESR hadn’t started a match for 499 days.

I’ll let everyone make their own minds up on that one!

“Villa beating us at least once this season?”

Emery has a score to settle and I am seeing him getting his team up to inflicting hurt on us. If he would have been able to spend that kind of money he would have been more successful. Still don’t know if he would have been good for Arsenal, but I hear that Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen would be an excellent choice for Arsenal, but he looks like the next manager for Real. He got Leverkusen topping the Bundesliga.
