Matchweek 25 | Against Sunderland

Matchweek 25 | Against Sunderland

  1. We are going to Wembley in Carabao Cup
  2. Man City dropped points to one of the worst teams in Premier League i.e. Spurs
  3. Arteta has finally dropped Odegaard

These three things has certainly helped my mood after the un-imaginable loss to Manchester United at Home. We are back on track with 6 points lead to Pep, and are going to play Sunderland in few minutes.

Playing XI is out, and Odegaard is injured enough to not make it on the bench. I don’t care, frankly after his performance against United, or the lack of. Havertz replaces him in the midfield, Madueke is in place of injured Saka and Trossard starts ahead of Martinelli.

Gabriel Jesus leads the line.

Mikel gives you a hope. And then make sure you do not die of happiness. Nwaneri should have been replacing Odegaard but Mikel found a way to put Havertz in the team. I don’t mind Havertz, he is more attacking and has some goals in him compared to our captain and rarely loses a duel.

It’s very important to register a win today because if we do, we will have a chance to go 9 points ahead of the 2nd place. City is playing Liverpool tomorrow, and they will have some time at Anfield. It’s only 14 games left and things are getting serious elsewhere, a win today will move us closer to the title and hopefully Arne does us a favor later.

In the first leg, Sunderland did manage to hold us to a 2-2 draw, courtesy to a Brobbey goal in extra time. We can’t afford to be that lenient and drop any points. February and March has some easy games for us, and will probably define whether we go ahead and win the title.

Right, short one today, only about 5 minutes to go before the kick-off. See you during the game.

They are going to sit back, so it all comes down to how much Arteta has improved his game plan…

the fact that Havertz, who we know full-well is shite in the midfield, is starting ahead of Eze, especially with Ode unavailable, speaks volumes about our shoehorn-loving manager and his largely negative tactical pursuits…no wonder Ethan accepted a loan move…unless we ship a player or two from our present midfield in the summer I wouldn’t be surprised if Ethan was our next Gnabry

  3. The Real Vieira Lynn

Havertz is like a brick wall when it comes to his first touches so far

  4. but he is doing his defensive work, so he will play ahead of everyone else.

  5. The Real Vieira Lynn

he’s only coming so deep because Zubi and Rice are being allowed to venture so far forward so often…none of which makes any sense

  6. The Real Vieira Lynn

Tross hits a ball straight into the face of Noni then immediately raises his hand and suggests there was a handball…this is all due to the conspiratorial nonsense that has been continually spewed by the manager and his tin foil minions

  7. The Real Vieira Lynn

Zubi’s going to be playing up top soon enough…Rice must be worried that he’s going to be Soucek’ed again

  8. The Real Vieira Lynn

that was close, but Jesus needs to be smarter there…if he stays on our side of the halfway line he eliminates any potnetial offside call…not to mention, there was no one near him

  9. The Real Vieira Lynn

Sunderland deserves some credit for playing a relatively positive first-half but they’re lucky not to be a couple down after a few bonkers maneuvers…when you commit so many on the break the wide side player can’t take a shot from such a ridiculous angle and distance, as it immediately led to a break opportunity for us

  10. The Real Vieira Lynn

enjoyable watch thus far…considering our chances are primarily coming from distance I would really like to see Eze on the pitch

  11. The Real Vieira Lynn

we’ve been rather fortunate not to concede in the first 5 minutes…Brobbey should have probably put a head to that cross and Raya’s wandering could have easily cost us

  12. Hoopah.

Havertz potted it in the direction he is wont to

    2-0 finally

Good on VG for taking his chances, as we can’t be relying upon the likes of Jesus as our starting “striker”…only problem is, if VG gets the start Havertz will be endlessly shoehorned into the midfield…you never like hearing the commentator say that the opposition are far more creative and adventurous, especially on your own pitch

If Havertz is going to be first choice in midfield then why did we buy Eze? That’s not a criticism of Eze but Rice is not going to be dropped, Zubi is our holding midfielder so what was the logic when you’re going to have Ode on the bench as well?

Gyokeres would have scored a lot more if we have given him more service. 2 good goals today, a win and 9 points clear of Citeh.

And a clean sheet. Perfect Saturday evening.
