Matchday 12 – THE DERBY DAY

Matchday 12 – THE DERBY DAY

Did you really think I will miss out the North London derby against those cunts? Not a chance. After 2 boring weeks of no football, we restart our journey for the title with a game against our shite arch rivals at home. Both City and Liverpool lost yesterday, and it looks like Slot is out of the title race without his magician performing, so that’s some more encouragement for the boys to grab a win and show em who the real bosses are.

It’s a crucial day for Mikel’s side. Pep will always be a trouble but it’s the Chelsea that has done some catching lately. We are only 3 points ahead of them having played a game less, and we surely would want to take that lead to 6 points by not dropping any points today. Secondly, players were away playing for their countries and they need to get back into the system they are accustomed to at Arsenal. The sooner the better as we can’t afford to look rusty. Third, its’ fucking Tottenham.

There’s some fresh problems after the international break. Our best defender, Gabriel, picked up an injury playing for Brazil and will not be available for couple of months. Calafiori missed his both games for Italy and didn’t train, so he will not be available most likely. Madueke, Odegaard and Havertz are still not available. Before going into the break, both Gyokeres and Martinelli missed games and it remains to be seen if Mikel takes a chance with them.

So, we would be going into the game with a 19-year old partner for Saliba, a 18 year kid at LB, without our most prominent creator and a midfielder at #9. I am a bit nervous with that, and I don’t think making these many changes after a 2 week break will not cause any problem for Mikel’s side. But, hey, that’s not a reason to not beat Spurs 3-0 at least.

Right, I will keep it short today. I have been given the evening off for the NLD but I need to go get a coffee and the bike need some care as well. See you during the game but before that, do share your predictions in comment section.

“I’m wondering if it’s time to think about Berta’s impact? The fruit bat headed little guy certainly seems to have achieved much more in the transfer market than apprentice Edu ever managed in his time”

The summers signings do seem to be “more effective” for want of a better expression. You have to wonder who was pulling the strings for some of the signings we made under Arteta up to the summer. There’s some good signings, some obvious signings and some that really ask a few questions.

Marc—as you’ve sugeested there’s only two PL sides who Pep has a below 50% win rate against and that’s Pool and the Spurs….that’s why you simply must ignore anything this fact-averse tin foil hat wearing ass clown or his cut and paste shit for brains sidekick have to say…their world starts and stops with Arsenal, so they simply lack the kind of perspective that’s generally required in order to engage in some sort of meaningful football-related discourse…they hear in-game commentary, such as the whole Spurs away record empty calorie shite, and instead of digging any deeper they immediately get a quarter chub knowing full-well that they will use this little nothing burger nugget to troll anyone who doesn’t prescribe to their partucular point of view…this is likewise why they can’t stop perpetuating the whole us and against the officiating world narrative nonsense…it’s such a tired low hanging fruit existence of which I have considerable sympathy, as I can’t even imagine what it must be like to be such a blunt instrument muppet…no wonder he’s so slurpy when it comes to our similarly stunted manager

as for Berta, I’m not sure quite yet what credit he deserves, I guess only time will tell, but I’m incredibly thankful to him if he was the one who pulled the trigger on all the moves that attempted to inject some much-needed directness into our squad, like with Eze, Noni and even VG (I still would have chosen otherwise)…unfortunately with MA in charge we all know that if we were fully healthy all of these offensively-minded new recruits would struggle for minutes in their respective best positions, due to MA’s shoehorning fucktard tendencies…hopefully outings like yesterday from Eze will make it much more difficult for MA to repeat the mistakes of his managerial past…fingers-crossed

That’s going to be both the interesting and possibly controversial thing this season – once we have a near fit squad how does Arteta a manager who’s not shown he has any talent for rotation fit everyone in? In midfield and the wide forward positions we really have too many players to give everyone both minutes and keep some cohesion in the team. You’ve then got VG vs Havertz – we know Arteta loves Havertz and we know how much the supporters wanted a new striker who is first choice?

The media are building Arsenal / Arteta up as Champions just waiting to knock them down because they know Arteta’s been in a position where he should win the PL several times before and he’s bottled it. For them its win/win – Arsenal win the PL and “we told you so” Arteta bottles it and they get great TV slagging him off.

How we cope without Gabriel (both offensively and defensively) if he’s out for a couple of months will be critical.

There you go …fixed it for you.

After throwing that massive pissy fit and shedding so many hot tears here last week, I’d be fascinated to know what you thought about Michael Oliver’s performance reffing the NLD.

Don’t hold back…I want some choice adjectives and swear words a-plenty.

“After throwing that massive pissy fit and shedding so many hot tears here last week”

    Hardly a “pissy fit ” ,

    Nov 9th
“I see Michael Oliver was on VAR for the city/liverpool game today and as per usual sided with city on every marginal and not so marginal decisions…
Oliver should be nowhere near city games as his bias has been obvious for years now, I do expect him to be involved in an Arsenal game very soon.”

And yes again I was right , Oliver was put in charge of our very next game.

And yes i was right again when I said that Oliver will be fine refereeing the NLD and that’s how it turned out..

The only contentious decision was our 2nd goal which brings me back to the comment I made BEFORE the NLD in regard to a player standing in an offside position but not in the keeper’s eyeline.

    Nov 23 am.
“I think it’s time for the pgmol to clarify their interpretation of the offside rule in this situation as I can only forsee more problems the next time a similar situation arises.
Obviously the rule in this instance must be confusing for the officials as a different outcome was arrived at for 2 very similar incidents , that shouldn’t be allowed to happen as it makes the pgmol look incompetent.”

As far as I’m concerned the blame for the confusion is all of Howard Webb’s making by defending the decision to disallow the Liverpool goal v city , he has opened up a can of worms.

You fucking retard I’ve been saying Arteta will bottle it as he always does.

Beyond that you don’t think the media have us down as favourites for the PL?

Mate, the thing about the pissy fit…it was a joke yeah? Just drawing attention to the fact that in amongst the flood of goals and the excitement, Oliver had a largely quiet – which in refereeing terms means good – game… Considering he’s a massive City fan
    😉

Today’s match should be an interessting test for us…I think we might have learned more about our typically risk-averse manager if this were a road affair, from both a selection and tactics standpoint, but having this contest at home should make it a more enjoyable watch….in the past MA has oft-times run it back whenever a lineup has performed to or above expectations, unless it was a Cup match, so in theory we should see the same group out there as on the weekend…that said, I’m not totally convinced that will happen

where we presently stand in the CL standings, combined with a few of yesterday’s “surprise” results, it’s the perfect time to release the handbrakes and see where we stand against another side who looks poised to make a deep run…let’s not forget that they’ve experienced what appears to be a bit of a cakewalk domestically so far, so let’s find out if they’re that good or the Bundesliga’s that bad, which could easily be the case after the massive talent drain last summer

tbh the more football I watch the more I’m starting to believe that maybe just maybe MA’s defence-first, set piece-dependent, dumbed down approach might actually work this season…things are a bit sloppy and inconsistant out there, for whatever reason, and the margins for choosing this unorthodox course might not be quite as thin as in the past couple of years…now this narrative could easily change if one or two sides, like PSG or Barca emerge from their respective stoupers(relatively speaking) and start performing at peak levels…if that were to happen we’ll likely find ourselves on the outside looking in again

with this in mind, I think we have a better chance domestically…I don’t favour Pep to figure out his best 11 this year and Pool appears too far back already to mount a proper challenge, so that leaves Chelsea as our main competition, which could work in our favour…their manager is almost a carbon copy of our dickwad, but further back timeline-wise, so I don’t think their good enough defensively to beat us at our own game, especially with Palmer’s injury woes this season…now this is by no means a vote of confidence for our manager, who’s clearly been our weak link the past 3 seasons, but more of a reasonable response to the present state of football…of course, there’s a lot of football left to play and nothing’s a given when the King of the cock-ups is on the job!!

    Hi Vieira

Seeing lisping ‘arry play poorly and our defence getting back to another clean sheet would suit me fine. I think it’ll be tight but I hope we’ll have too much at home for the Bavarian Barbarians.

    You on the mend mate?
