Matchday 12 – THE DERBY DAY

Matchday 12 – THE DERBY DAY

Did you really think I will miss out the North London derby against those cunts? Not a chance. After 2 boring weeks of no football, we restart our journey for the title with a game against our shite arch rivals at home. Both City and Liverpool lost yesterday, and it looks like Slot is out of the title race without his magician performing, so that’s some more encouragement for the boys to grab a win and show em who the real bosses are.

It’s a crucial day for Mikel’s side. Pep will always be a trouble but it’s the Chelsea that has done some catching lately. We are only 3 points ahead of them having played a game less, and we surely would want to take that lead to 6 points by not dropping any points today. Secondly, players were away playing for their countries and they need to get back into the system they are accustomed to at Arsenal. The sooner the better as we can’t afford to look rusty. Third, its’ fucking Tottenham.

There’s some fresh problems after the international break. Our best defender, Gabriel, picked up an injury playing for Brazil and will not be available for couple of months. Calafiori missed his both games for Italy and didn’t train, so he will not be available most likely. Madueke, Odegaard and Havertz are still not available. Before going into the break, both Gyokeres and Martinelli missed games and it remains to be seen if Mikel takes a chance with them.

So, we would be going into the game with a 19-year old partner for Saliba, a 18 year kid at LB, without our most prominent creator and a midfielder at #9. I am a bit nervous with that, and I don’t think making these many changes after a 2 week break will not cause any problem for Mikel’s side. But, hey, that’s not a reason to not beat Spurs 3-0 at least.

Right, I will keep it short today. I have been given the evening off for the NLD but I need to go get a coffee and the bike need some care as well. See you during the game but before that, do share your predictions in comment section.

not that it matters, but I’m not sure why Rice would even go there at this juncture…it was a pretty standard yellow card offence…besides we should never accuse anyone of flopping

Eze has been a breath of fresh air, especially now that he’s toying with the Spurs

Utter domination. One of those very pleasing moments when the chasm between us and the scum is arguably at its widest.

Never saw Saka dancing… We are winning the league guys.

Thierry Henry educating carragher and les ferdinand after the game is a joy to watch, similar to the way we gave the Tottenham team a football education today on the pitch…

Of course I hope we secure a decisive victory today, but I can’t remember a time when I was less interested in just hunkering down and watching our matches from start to finish…the football is drab,

Ah Vera, finding new and novel ways to express shit takes.

This from the guy wailing for ages because we bought Trossard and rather than spunking 80mill on Mudryk (who?)and constantly bitches about our Lion up front, Mikel Merino.
    That first goal was delicious.

message to our limp-dick shoehorning manager, play Eze in his best position

As if he’s going to take advice off some know nothing plum who doesn’t understand football. Note to Vera, let the people who know about the game speak, learn to listen, listen to learn.

I know what you mean – I’ve sold my ticket today

Try not listening to plums with notoriously ignorant views.

You should have gone. Nothing better than watching the scum sneaking out. Frank chucking on attackers, proper hit and hope, that was control from start to finish.

I’ll take that with a large grain of salt coming from a know-nothing clown who had us winning a plethora of hardware for 3 years running…you couldn’t be more of a waste of space goof if you tried…I’m still loving living rent free in your incredibly spacious head…see you on the flipside you fucking muppet

Right, didn’t we all have fun today?
There to capitalise on the slip ups by our purported rivals, keep Chelscum at bay, smash the spuds
    Job done without a hitch.
Only low point was conceding a goal. It deflated the crowd a bit but nobody around me considered it a turning point. Richarlison scoring just added to the annoyance.
But that’s all it was, annoyance.
    Controlled from start to finish.

If you want elite level set piece execution, we have it. But anyone who thinks that’s all we have isn’t paying attention.

If you were capable of reading a whole comment you’d realise that I have a tear on my cartilage and walking up and particularly down stairs is A) painful and B) aggravates it so it isn’t healing.

As my seat is in the upper tier which means taking several flights of stairs (never counted how many but its a reasonable amount) as well as the walk to the station, the walk to and from the ground and then a walk up hill (also uncomfortable) back from the station I decided to not fuck my knee up anymore.

A good win yesterday but it was expected bearing in mind the amount of time and spend our manager has had at his disposal. In 5 weeks time Arteta will have completed 6 years as manager and spent 1 billion GBP.

Frank has been in the job at Tottenham for 5 months – in reality he hasn’t really started yet. Will he be successful who knows but one thing is certain regarding Arteta – he should have won the league by now.

I agree that there was a certain inevitability about the result in the days running up to the game. I would have felt the same way (possibly more if the game had been played at their place given their dire home form). Only Spurs could go from winning the second level European trophy late last season to imploding like this. The weird thing is they’re still in a better position than they deserve to be.

I watched the game against Chelsea a few weeks ago and they were equally terrible.

The paradox was that they started the game like effete pansies and only sought to up the aggression after the result was a foregone conclusion. Many of their fans already want Frank out. It seems a little hasty – it took me at least half a season before I wanted ours out!

I’m wondering if it’s time to think about Berta’s impact? The fruit bat headed little guy certainly seems to have achieved much more in the transfer market than apprentice Edu ever managed in his time. And though I wouldn’t piss on Kroenke and his son were they ever on fire, at least he’s spending some of the club’s money these days.

Kroenkephile? Nah, he’s still a nasty syrup wearing old schlaaag.

Yesterday’s game gave me vibes of that 5 nil win at shite hart lane in the late 70s, where Liam Brady reigned supreme. Was that also the game where Alan Sunderland hit that hat trick I wonder?

Weird that lisping ‘Arry never got a hat trick against us.

Frank needs a bit of time and a couple of transfer windows to get the team together assuming the type of player he wants will be available. Slot has shown he can work wonders with somebody else’s players but cannot put together a team of his own. If Arteta loses his head this season and doesn’t win the Premiership he must go.
Eze should have been our player (again) a couple of seasons ago but somebody wouldnt have used him. Perhaps Berta is pulling a few strings or has a hand up Arteta’s arse.

    Question:
Before yesterday’s game who were the only unbeaten side away from home in the league in the 4 English divisions.
    Answer : Tottenham Hotspur.

    Including 2-0 v man city and 3-0 v Everton.

So obviously Tottenham have been pretty decent away from home this season, and yet some seem to think it was inevitable that we gave the only unbeaten team away from home a footballing lesson.
I’ll tell you what I saw , a tactical masterclass from Arteta in the way he used Merino to come deep to allow Eze to occupy the vacated space , plus he totally subdued what was potentially their most dangerous threat in Kudos.
2 tough games coming up this week but for me the Chelsea game is the important one, they should give us a real test though if we win I’m sure the doubters will say it is inevitable despite Chelsea being on an excellent winning run the last 2 months.

They caught City cold – a freak result. And Everton are shite. If you thought yesterday’s game was going to much tougher than it was, then I’m formally doubting your credentials. In every position (except the gesticulator on the touchline, match), we were far superior in the individual match ups. The only exception might have been Hincapie as an unknown quantity versus Van Der Ben. But the Ecuadorian won that match up too in final analysis.

I watch a lot of the Spuds and I’m sure you do too . They’ve been shite this season and having a few freak away results can never be a guarantee that there’ll be a run of wins.

We were terrific yesterday and we blew Spurs apart because we were better in every single aspect of the game. I’m sure the bookies made us huge favourites. The cockerel jockeys got what they deserved and Frank rightly should be criticised for preparing them so poorly.

But I think most readers saw that coming before kick off.

  18. Kroenkephobe

Sorry. That last post is riddled with way too many typos to correct. Normal standards will resume I promise. That’s what 6 pints of night nurse will do to you on a Monday afternoon. 😴😴😴

  19. Wicksy

So now we are back to the media and pundits saying the league is as good as won , a week after saying that City were breathing down our necks and we would crumble.
How I see the season panning out is it could all be down to whether city have the quality and experience in their present team to go on a similar 20 game unbeaten run that proved too strong for us in the 2023 and 2024 seasons…personally I’m not so sure they will as they rely too much on Haaland , whereas Arsenal have multiple options with another 5 offensive players due back to give us more ammunition.

The Spud’s have a good record up at City – sometimes teams just perform well against certain other teams.

Yesterday we had one of Arteta’s rare good football combined with a good result matches.

I didn’t watch much of the pundits after the match but I did think Ferdinand made a valid point when he said Tottenham were so bad we hardly had to get out of 3rd gear. Its a backhanded compliment to us and damning criticism of the spuds.
