Football is back!

Premier League is just two weeks away, I’m heading to Emirates to watch a preseason friendly against Chelsea and can’t keep my excitement. It’s gonna be great to be back in stadium after a poor season, with the world going crazy with Covid.

Result don’t matter today but I would love to see some of the players getting game time against a good opposition. It would be the first for Lokonga and Tavares against a decent team. Ben White might get some minutes and I’m even expecting Balogun to play a good part of the game.

For the first time, I’m more invested in seeing the young guns. That goal from Azeez the other day was brilliant and I’d love to see some more of that. It would be interesting to see who starts on the right back and the pair of CBs.

It’s time for Mikel to decide a fixed playing XI, let them build a chemistry within themselves and stick to it unless you see any injuries. He has hardly played the same team twice and That’s not a good thing in my opinion. We are not in Europe and got a match a week and there’s ample time for players to recover.

On a negative side, we still don’t have the midfield incomings, no movements for Xhaka and Bellerin, the rumours of Madison and Tammy is fading and Premiership starts in two weeks. It would have been much better if the needed signings were completed and players getting familiar with each other. We have a number of players who probably won’t make it but they are still here. AMN, Nelson, Willock (though I would love to keep him), Eddie and Runnarson. Either they need to be sent on loan where they can get a full season of game time or sold to fund the positions where we need an upgrade.

Edu needs to wake up and make it fast. I have seen enough of the transfer seasons where we do nothing till the end and then end up panic buying. Don’t make this another one of those.

Right, short one for today. I hope the weather remains good, I click some good pictures to use on this blog and we beat Chelsea 5-0. See you in the comments.
