Sorry for disappearing for more than a month; I have been travelling and settling up. A lot has changed though in Arsenal world since I last posted. We had lost the 3 opening matches and were at the bottom of the table with a goal difference of minus 9.
We signed some first team players – Ramsdale, Ben White, Tomiyasu, Lokonga, Tavares and Odegaard.
And we had a brilliant form ever since! We are unbeaten since then, winning 6 and drawing 2 of next 8 matches, happily sitting on 5th place – only 2 points behind top 4 and Liverpool.
We have been playing some good football. The first half against Spu*s was one of the best in recent times, a brilliant performance against Aston Villa and an away 2-0 win against Leicester were all in the mix. All new signings are starters now and looks brilliant. Ramsdale is a real fighter and has been great replacing a very decent Bernd Leno. Ben White and Gabriel are building up a partnership. Tavares is becoming a headache for the manager once Tierney is fully fit and Lokonga looks good in flashes. Tomi is another brilliant signing.
I wasn’t really happy with Ben White signing when we needed a midfield presence and a CF, but he hasn’t disappointed. If the manager wants to build things up from the back, so be it if it delivers the results. Though Auba is missing penalty these days, he is trying to fight and that’s a good sign. ESR has been massive in that #10 role and got the England call rightly so.
Without going into match details, I must say I’m surprised by the results and it looks very very positive. Lets keep it going, give a fight to pools once International Breaks are over and fight for that Top 4 place. I’m expecting to see Laca’s contract will run down, and we will be bringing his replacement in January or in the next summer transfer window. I’d love to see Eddie fighting for his place but his contract situation is complicated and he will probably gonna leave on free too.
