Europa Leg 2 against Olympiacos: chance for Martinelli?

What’s up lads? Weekend is almost there with one more Friday shift left. I’m sure Friday would be awesome after we dominate and beat Olympiacos today at Emirates in second leg of Europa. We are already 3-1 up, thanks to goals from Ødegaard, Gabriel and Elneny; with high in confidence after beating Spurs comfortably in the league.

There are couple of complications for Arteta today. He benched Auba who remained an unused sub in NLD and it was bold. It came out as a disciplinary action for turning out late on the game day. That’s the last thing expected from a Captain. Arteta has since cleared the air and everything is good.

We talked, everything has been resolved in a really positive way so we move forward.

Good for the team. Auba brings quality and on a good day, he will convert any of the half chances he gets near the the box.

Another thing which makes life difficult for our coach is the youngsters. We have seen how Bukayo, ESR and Ode has improved overall quality of team but then we see clear lack of game time for Pepe & Martinelli. I believe Martinelli has a future with us and with recent clips from the training ground where he was practicing as a center forward using both his feet, Mikel may be trying to use him as a Laca’s replacement for future. With both Auba and Laca in form, it’s getting difficult for him to get game time.

When pressed over why Martinelli is not getting game time, Arteta had to say this,

No, if anything it’s my fault, he has done everything perfect, he trains incredibly well every day, his attitude cannot be any better, he is disappointed he is not playing more obviously and I have spoken to him, but he needs to be a little bit patient. He had some minutes, he had some games as well and it’s true the competition for the front positions is very tough but he needs to be patient and he will get his chance.

Today might be the day where he will be back in playing 11. We are 3-1 up l, playing at home and you can’t lose it from here.

What a wonderful sight it would be, to see Bukayo on right, Øde in the middle, ESR on the left feeding him the ball to score. His work rate is awesome, he looks passionate and always hungry for the goals. It will take time though, we are talking about a 19 year old lad, coming from injury and competing against Auba/Laca. Our future looks good!

Alright, lets get a win today and keep winning streak running before we meet Hammers. Best chance to qualify to Champions League is Europa route and it would be a brilliant year if we end up in CL. Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comment section.
