Arsenal v Chelsea

Match day – Arsenal vs Chelsea

Brentford one didn’t go well last week and we have probably the toughest two opponents to face in next two games. Chelsea are visiting Emirates today and we have nothing less than to be excited.

We have a good record against Chelsea in recent times and Mikel’s plan of sitting deep and hoping for a goal in the 90 min often workout against big teams. However, we are playing against an European Champions led by one of the best coaches in the world, Tuchel. With an addition of Lukaku, they look even dangerous and it would be difficult than ever.

Fans are back for the first time in full capacity in last year and a half and it can go either way for Arteta. A good display against a reigning champion will improve his credit karma, but a loss with poor football would mean he will get the flak. I’m not saying we are par with Chelsea, they have a better team which everyone knows; but a poor display of football with back and sideways passing is gonna piss a lot of the fans. We have some interesting addition to the team this week in Ramsdale & Ødegaars. Ben White has already played his first game in red and white, and we have seen Lokona and Tavares already.

It’s time for no more excuse. Mikel has brought in enough guys to play ‘his’ brand of football and we fans need a result; at the very least a fight. We don’t wanna see a Brentford repeat where we were spineless for a whole of 90min.

Players needs to step up too. Our captain Auba and Laca were COVID sick, Laca couldn’t make it to the line up today but Auba is on bench and we could see him as a substitute, we need a 100% from from Pepe who is leading the line. We need the Auba who scored a brilliant one against Chelsea in FA cup final. We beat them both home and away last season and it would be wonderful if we do the same here.

Playing XI :

Leno
Cedric, Holding, Mari, Tierney
Lokonga, Xhaka
Saka, ESR, Martinelli
Pepe

It’s the best we have, with Partey injured, Auba recovered from Covid and Ben White is sick too. It’s good to see Saka back in playing XI and starting the game, he ups the tempo and has a very good chemistry with Emile Smith.

Top 4 is minimum. There are no excuses now, and losing to Brentford didn’t help much. We need a win/draw against both Chelsea and City to keep the morale up for the players. 0 points after 3 games won’t help even if the next opponents are comparatively easier to play against. I personally believe the first half of this season is make or break for Mikel.

He has to step up, players has to be on their 100% for today and we could earn 3 important points today. Right, join me in the comments to discuss about the match. #COYG
